It just started doing this...

I went to plug my cell phone's car charger into the cigarette outlet, and when I was done I pulled it out...and practically the entire housing for the cigarette lighter came out...

The silver lining part on the inside now comes out everytime I remove the cigarette lighter. It feels very snug in there, where before it wasn't. It would have some resistance, but not as much as now...

Has this happened to anyone else? It happened in my old car but I never worried about it, but I don't wanna have to keep pushing the cigarette lighter back the whole way in everytime I need to charge my cell phone...

Sounds like a warranty issue to me. I'd take it to the dealer and get a free fix.

 

Ya, and you can use the power port in the center console (armrest) until it's fixed.

 

It kept happing to me when I first got my car. The cigarette light actually got stuck in it a couple of times where I had to play with it for 10 minutes to get it to come out. I took it all apart, then I put it all back together. Now I don't have the problem anymore. I don't know what it was doing, but it's not doing it anymore.

 

Did you remove it from the center console all together then do something?? I don't quite understand.....

 

Yes, I removed it from the console completely. Then I just took it apart, and put it back together. I think mine just wasn't snapped together all the way. Sorry I can't give you anymore details on what I did.
