Default Counterfeit Parts!? WTF!

I typically buy parts new, and I don't buy off of ebay so this never occured to me before. I just learned today that there are counterfeit performance parts (Greddy, Injen, HKS, etc.) What the hell! I guess this is common knowledge, but I'd never heard of it. Post up any advice/pictures you have for avoiding these knock-off parts. If there is already a thread for this someone please show me and I'll delete this - I can never find anything I'm looking for with the forum search bar.

btw, I found a used Injen cai on craigslist that I was going to buy, but now I'm not so sure. Does anyone know how to spot a fake Injen?

i wouldnt worry about fake intakes.
they all do the same thing.
its piping with a filter...
alot of ppl buy ebay intakes just for the piping then buy a name brand filter to stick on.

Yeah, I figured this was old news but it can't hurt to list all this info in one place. As far as fake intakes, i guess that makes sense. I'd like to know before I buy it though. If its a fake I shoudln't pay as much as i would for a authentic Injen.

I think another concern is the influx of unreliable parts on the internet through Ebay. They are affecting the aftermarket industry greatly. As consumers continuously purchase these knock of products, valuable money is going away from reputable companies who pour numerous hours in R&D, and causing them to lose money and prevent them from developing new components. A broken wastegate spring can cause catastrophic effects on an engine as we all know! Watch out…and Do it right the first time!
