Some do, some don't. If you are into modding at all, you should seriously talk to your company though. I know with Progressive their full coverage does cover $1000 in extra parts by default (of course you have to show proof if needed) and you can add as much as you want. It just jacks your premium up. I think I have $3000 total extra coverage (seats, suspension, stereo, etc). Just in case.

Ah, I see. I guess I'll chat with Triple A sometime soon... How much extra do you pay? And how would you go about showing proof? Show them the parts, or the receipt? Cause many people buy parts used...

I think $2000 extra coverage adds something like $20-$30 every 6 months to my premium - so it's not too bad.

As for proof, I think you'd at least need some sort of dated receipt from the transaction. So if you have like an eBay or Paypal payment, that MIGHT work - but I think that's something you'd have to get your insurance company to specify ahead of time for you when you ask.

Hm, okay. I'll be sure to clarify that when I talk to them...

Thanks for the help, ack. We can stop threadjacking now

There we go, no more thread jack. Plus this is probably helpful to someone else anyway.

Was a good question.

hmm I would ask Tina (Kiss_Kiss_Kill)she said something about getting her car insured for all performance parts on her car, she might be able to really help you out, but I BELIEVE you would have to switch your insurance from a "regular" automobile to a "Showroom" or "Show" car, which has different rates and exclusions.
