that's the 2zz.... or the celica gts motor... as discussed above

How is it way more than a turbo? EL got 144 WHP and 150lb-ft out of their small turbo kit, ends up to be over 170hp at the crank, and the torque is much higher than a 2zz...

You don't happen to know if that's "dyno tuned" or "street driven tuned", do you?

The celica engine hp would be "street driven tuned", plus you could probably modify that later with a turbo.

at this point id almost rather do a swap cuz i'm pretty sure with a 2zz swap it would still pass ca smog but with a turbo or s/c it never would. god damned ca smog.

It was all street tuned, then they dynoed it as far as I know. And unless you're magic, you're not fitting any extras on a 2zz if you manage to get it under the hood, theres clearance problems with turbo's on a 1nz even!

its pretty expensive to go FI on the 2zz-ge..those high compression pistons have a lot of people running into problems..

I'd just opt for a Celica motor.

Anything with built internals and forced induction just isn't going to be as reliable as a stock motor.

Black top 20v 4age are 6 spds.

and the cost of the 2zz is too much for me to justify..

ITB w/ velocity stacks...whew.. and the endless tuning possibilites..

4agze would be nice though.... nut sure if they came FWD tho.

Default hehe...

if you had the money, a 13B from mazda would be nice. the 13B is from the rotary 2 engine out of the RX-7. it's pretty tiny and would generate around 240 HP stock. and they make turboes from them as well.

Not worth the hassle... stay N/A and run the 2zz.. the 1.8L engines are too large dimensionally to sport a turbo without knocking back the firewall.

I disagree... I have a friend in Tampa with a GTS.. running a XS Engineering turbo kit, putting down 275whp on pump gas. Of course, you have to pull a lot of timing.. but it's definately worth it.

I just had a pretty good idea...

What about the 4EFTE from the Starlet Turbo?

1.3 liter turbo, shouldn't run into any clearance problems at all since it's a smaller motor.

133 hp stock and turbo= lots of tuning potential.

I just did a search on Ebay and found two 4EF-TE motors.

One was 400 dollars just for the motor, and another was 1500 for the motor with 40k miles, transmission, ecu, wiring harness..everything you would need.

Only think is engine mounts but aside from that, I see no reason why this swap would not be feasable. It would almost certainly fit just fine.

I bet that B.Y.P. in Florida would love to do that swap, they have more Tercel's with that swap than you can shake a stick at...
