Excessive Stalling?
The tC is the first manual car I’ve ever owned. I learned how to drive stick shift on an Integra GSR. I don’t know if anyone has driven the tC and the GSR, but their clutches are very different. The GSR catches really low, almost right after you begin to release the clutch. The tC, on the other hand, has a really high catch point. It’s almost at the end of the clutch release.
Anyways, it’s taken me a little bit of time to get used to the clutch. And I’ve stalled a considerable amount of times.
So, my question is: Is excessive stalling bad? If yes, which it probably is, how bad is it?
When I’m in traffic and I stall, I usually stall a couple times after too. That’s because I get honked at or something and get nervous. When I’m nervous I tend to stall again.
Don’t think that I’m a horrible driver, because I’m not. I’ve just stalled a considerable amount of times during the first couple days of owning the car and wonder if it harmed the car at all.

Excuse me for laughing out loudly in reponse to your post.
I can see where your coming from. The first stick car I've ever driven was my friend's Jetta. I understood the concept of stick before driving it and I didn't stall, except for in reverse. Then again, his clutch is hella easy and light. He was teaching 2-3 of my other friends at the same time how to drive stick and we were all sitting in the car. One of them said "Alan doesn't have to tell Wes what to do..." this other guy kept stalling in first gear.
When I got my Accord from my uncle, it took me a friggin month to get used to it, but I only drove it once or twice a week.
Since your car is brand new, it shouldn't be too bad. Give it a couple more weeks and you'll get used to it.

I've learned to drive in a camry myself. It does feel different. Sadly, for example, after spending so much time asking about TRD parts and such with the dealer guy, I stalled like 5 times on the test drive
. Hopefully wont stall too much when I get mine in 2 weeks or so cause its gonna be sad if i stall my car at a traffic light while people are checking out my car.
Practice makes perfect. We've all been there before. Eventually you be fine. I have two friends that aren't that well cooridnated and they are great manual drivers (to my disbeif). In time... :D
Dont worry, you can only get better. I've driven stick before but this is my first car with M/T. I've stalled a few times so far but have been lucky and no one has been behind me. In other cars that I've driven though, i've been honked at too. Like everyone else said, with the more you drive, you'll get use to it.
i stalled 2 times when i test drove the tc. the tc will be my first 5spd car but i drive my friends 5spds a lot. it just takes time. after a stall or two i get used to the clutch and im alright after that. as for hurting the car, it will be ok.
