Default Fast or not

Do you guys think that the tC is fast? All my friends think that its fast and all but I'm the one with a tC(AT) and I think its... kinda slow...

But the thing is, don't compare it to a car like that mazda3 you test drove or some m3 that your friend let you drive...

Just curious what other tC owners think.

It's not that fast. The better term is "fun." It's a quick car, but by no means a speed demon. It has some pep and that adds to the driving experience... but unless you're turbo'd - you're not that fast.

I voted slow cause it is versus all other cars but it is fast and fun for the price range.

So anyone here driven both? I know the gears are totally differnt but is it such a big difference?

I would say quick. In perspective this is a low 7 sec car. So 1.5 / 2 seconds slower than real fast cars. Seconds.

i agree with "fun," which is the most important imo.

my old car was a lightly modded turbo eclipse with about 220 hp, and i like driving my new scion 100 to 1. and it feels quicker in the lower gears. the biggest thing though, is that my eclipse was an automatic, and my tc is a manual.

lol ppl really gotta get over the whole camry thing. Yea it comes from that model but its tuned, has forged internals, connecting rods, and is turbo happy. Not only are owners excited that its the next big thing, tuner companies are takin notice as well. They all believe in the real thing, enuf wit the puttin down lol. U would think that a 12 second tc wouldve got it some respect...at least from its OWNERS. But real is real and stock it isnt the monster of the road, but cmon u mean to tell me after years of civic owners pipin about their sohc 127 hp (-) engines that you wanna put down urs for having 160? cmon kids, we're rollin as fast as an is300 and we're neck and neck with mini supercharged. Give yourselves some credit, and pat urself on the back for havin a hot lookin car on top of that. i will be gettin my tc in 2-3 weeks and i will make it a point not to come on these boards to complain, whine, or attempt in any way to validate the car.

i think it's darn quick. i have a manual tranny. i think my opinion is based on a couple of factors:
my old car was a 97 corolla....auto....slow! but still a little fun
it's my first stick shift car
it may only have 138 hp at the wheels, but it can sure get me around alot of traffic on the highway
it's a new car and my baby, so i can't be mad at it being slow

other than test driving some cars at autoshowinmotion the past couple of years, this is the fastest car i've driven on a daily basis.

to sum it up, it's just at the point of being quick enough to get me in some real trouble

ok

best stock runs are generally around a 15.7-second quarter mile at 88.2 mph.
stock 0 to 60 is about 7.8 seconds at the quicker end (actually tested with a polished AEM cold air intake and TRD exhaust).
the tC acceleration numbers are nearly identical to a stock SVT Focus.
still, our Scion's acceleration is pretty good for the money we payed (coulda payed 2 grand more for the SVT Focus).
btw, Kinesi5, it's about a half second off the IS300 but who is counting.

"Scion tC"
Engine Code: 2AZ-FE
Type: Inline four, aluminum block and head
Valvetrain: DOHC, four valves per cylinder, VVT-i variable valve timing
Displacement: 2362cc
Claimed Crank Hp: 160 hp @ 5700 rpm
Claimed Crank Torque: 163 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
Measured Wheel Hp: 152 hp @ 5700 rpm
Measured Wheel Torque: 141 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

Acceleration
0-60 mph: 7.8 sec.
Quarter-Mile Time: 15.7 sec.
Quarter-Mile Speed: 88.2 mph

now, if those numbers are "fast" to you, then it's a fast car.
if those numbers aren't so "fast", then it's not a particularly fast car.

it is a fun car though....just not a fast car in the scheme of things.

good info surf. ive driven quite a few tCs now. its a fun car indeed, but by no means fast. i wouldnt even consider it quick. i would consider it in the range of lively. he isnt always ***** to the walls fast, but it always seems to be lively with a good range of tq and hp.

the tC in comparison, maybe more lively than say an xB, but in comparison to a lot of soccer mom cars, its actually not even fast. steppin on the throttle of it always seems to wield a little power though. agreed that it has potential, but so does any car *yes even the 1nzfe* . its with what you direction you take it that matters.

my vote goes to slow, even though its a very lively and fun car
