I think it's pretty fast, but to me it's a state of mind thing. If you were like me and this was your third car after owning two Escorts, then yes :D , it's fast.

"lively" is a good description scott. "responsive" might be another. certainly "fast" wouldn't be descriptive of this car, imo.

It's faster than the current Civic SI. And people always associate the Civic SI as being more in the fast category. So, I vote for fast.

any car that can beat the ____ out of 90% of the other cars on the road ... is fast...
next time you are out on the highway, look around and what do you see? trucks, old ___ sedans, some civics, camerys, accords... and yea, that BMW 330, or the random S4, or G35 or Z, but trust me (if you have a 5speed anyways) you can kill 90% of the cars out there...

fast as comapred to? 350Z? define fast?

its quick........and has potential.

my freind went to some honda event in LA and drvoe the new SI, he says the back end is very heavy, and he was driving it in track/autocross conditions, says the back end slides around and the car feels very very heavy, and this is comming fomr a HUGE civic loyalist. he aslo says the only saving part of that car is the novalties like navigation, and the seats etc. says the Tc is a better value (again this is an opinion, so all you civic fans settle down and take some porzac)

ours is a camry....a sporty looking one, but a camry nonetheless.

sry 'bout the whole camry thing.
Its not even based on a Camry. Its based on some Euro Toyota. I think it starts with an A I think. It just has the Camry 4 cylinder powertrain but the rest of the car is different.

Its not a fast car and its not slow. Its quick. For cars in its price and class its very competive with most of the other cars like the old SVT Focus, and new Civic SI or Mazda 3. Its not as fast as the Cobalt SS or the Neon SRT 4. Its not as slow as the base Cobalts, Neons, Civics and Focuses (sp?). Its just right in the middle.

there are many definitions of fast.. my last car was a civic dx.. so compared to that, the tC is a freakin powerhouse for me.. it's got a whole lot more torque than any car that i've driven i'd say it's modestly quick compared to other cars

If I were to blow by cars on the freeway @100 mph, people would think my car is fast. If I were to ease the gas on the street, people would think the car looks slow and heavy. It's the perception.

Yes, it is an opinion. It depends what car you're coming from and how you perceive fast.

16 seconds being slow is a matter of your opinion.

maybe some of the cars out thier, but i highly doubt you could "kill" a 350 or g35, and i know not an S4, ..........but those people driving those cars are not going to care about a Tc. and flyby's dont count......

Gotta go with most of the responses so far - 'Slow', but fun/lively/quick. Hell, the tC I'm buying in a few weeks will be the slowest car I've had in a long time (WRX, 330i, and so on), and it's got less HP than my bike! :D

But that's not why I'm buying it. It's an awesome value, it's stylish, practical, and yes - fun. Seems the younger crowd gets a little too caught up in the whole "who's faster" routine. My take: who gives a flying ****. :D

the operative word is "VALUE". well/ decent made, realiable, potential, sorty, and quick for about 18k out the door.

if you book your car on KBB.com you will see Tc hold there value, and have a decent resale too

I may be wrong, but I think he meant that the bmw 330, s4, g35, etc... were part of the 10% of cars on the road that the tC couldn't compete with.

Oh, and on several occasions I've had bmw and mercedes owners either staring at my car or trying to race me. I guess the tC gives off a faster/more luxurious appearance than it really is. So they do care, and if you get the s/c you could probably even hang with a 330 or g35 (auto). (That's still speculation at this point though ;) ) Basically I agree with the majority of people out there, the tC isn't fast, but it is definitely lively & quick, and it looks as if it cost about 9-10K more than it really did

eh.... it feels faster than it really is. The torque kinda pulls you back a little bit but when you take a gander at the speedo you realize its just the torque. I'd say the tC is peppy. RSX type S id consider quick and WRXs, G35s, etc. id call fast. A bi-turbo Porshce GT3 is just a ____ing beast.

Give yourselves some credit, and pat urself on the back for havin a hot lookin car on top of that. i will be gettin my tc in 2-3 weeks and i will make it a point not to come on these boards to complain, whine, or attempt in any way to validate the car.
where did u find out that the tc engine has different internals than a camry?
