I don't think the Potenza tires on the tC are the best but definitely not "god-awful". I would not expect Scion to put on $800-$1000 tires since this car is supposed to be affordable NOT luxury. LOL

The 92's are about the lowest rated tire in their class, and for valid reasons. It is not my personal opinion. $800 - $1000 is not necessary for a far better and safer performance a/s (or summer) tire.

I have to comment on this because everyone keeps mentioning the Civic thing:

People, the Civic has been around for decades and has been a popular tuner for almost two decades...I don't think you are going to have to worry about the tC hitting critical mass with the mainstream crowd for a very long time. Even if it is massively popular in the import crowd, I doubt sales for the tC will top 100,000.
so true. everybody keeps say "oh the tC is gonna become the next civic" when the civic has been out far longer than the tC. its not like everybody with a car is gonna be like "ohh shoot the tC is out, everybody lets go get it"

(Or more if you're a performance fanatic). Less of a 'bargain' then...
RE92s are ____. Every manufacturer uses them. Bridgestone must sell them super cheap.

That's the problem. I'm not worried about the people tho keep a stock tC, I'm worried about all the 'tards who make it look silly with huge aluminum wings, hundreds of lbs. of fiberglass, and stickers.

i agree.... dont need rear downforce simply cuz its fwd and more weight = less mpg.
stickers.... im most likely gonna de-badge my car as soon as i get it. if someone wants to pay me to have stickers on the car then okay but otherwise.... no. im not gonna buy a sticker advertising for a company that isnt paying my bills.

i 2nd that. if you're gonna put a spoiler, keep it clean and not over sized, imo. i also plan on debadging my tC when i get it. i dont want people trying to do the debadging for me with a screwdriver. stickers, probably one or two small ones on my rear quarter window supporting ScionLife. and thats all the stickers i'll do.

I fear that the interior (namely the seats) will look as terrible in real life as the pictures suggest. Could the all-black seats look any more plain? The back seat looks embarassing in the photos! Compare the pics of the tC seats to photos of the Ion Red Line (http://www.saturn.com/saturn/images/...edlineion7.jpg) or the RX-8 (http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/M...s/Interior.jpg) and suddenly the tC (https://www.scionlife.com/gallery/tc/tc08.jpg) looks very unfinished and cheap.

I also fear the steering wheel will be too ugly, too. (I've seen one pic of a two-tone steering wheel in the tC ... not sure if that will actually be an option or not, though.)

1.) Getting everything planned then getting SCREWED on financing.
2.) I'm going to have to learn how to drive a stick.
3.) Hard to get into back seat.
4.) Small driver's seat with that console in the middle (I'm a pretty big guy).

I'm afraid it'll be too small and too slow.

Yep. I'm talking SEATS. Not luxury items or amenities or engine size. Seats. The exact type of item that a $16,000 car can do just as well as a $26,000 car.

And the Ion Red Line and the Scion tC are essentially the exact same price considering the tC needs the supercharger to match the Red Line's horsepower. So those both become $20,000 cars at that point, and the seats of one look great while the other looks like they were modeled after the 1992 Dodge Shadow.

Guess I should see them for myself in person before I criticize much more....

While your on the topic of seats, does anyone know if the seat bottom on the tC is the same length as the xA & xB? I hope it's a bit longer.

Sure they could make the seats just as nice as a $26k car in a $16k car. They would just have to cut cost some where else.

Car makers have to weigh what they want to go all out on, and what they want to cut costs on. I would much rather have seats that are not quite as pretty as the ones in $26 cars then have a underpowerd engine, or sucky handling or something.

True, but that doesn't explain why the seats look worse than the seats on a corolla. I hope it's just the pictures.

I'm afraid I won't be able to afford the tC. My job at Sykes, im getting laid off on August 7th due to our jobs moving overseas. Gotta find a steady job first.

Sure it does, Toyota thinks Corolla buyers would rather have pretty seats than a bigger engine. :D

Seats ARE luxury items. If they weren't, why wouldn't the seats in the Neon be the same as those in a Maybach or S600.
