Default Floor Mat Warranty Question

I've got a question out there for anyone with the 05 mats who has had them warranty replaced - did you just walk into your dealer with a mat with a big hole in it and ask for a new one? How many people have had success getting them replaced and how many have been turned down? I know all accessories are warrantied for a certain amount of time, but did they ask for a reciept or did they just take your word for it? Mine are probably over a year old, but I had the carpet piece out all last winter, so they've been in use for less than a year (not that it matters). There is a huge flat spot that's going to be a hole in short order. I'd rather not have to shell out all that money for new mats when this is clearly a manufacturing problem.

My guys didn't replace them under warranty. At least you can find them sorta cheap around. Sucks too because they're nice mats but expensive to replace.

Mine replaced them under warranty with the new 06 Floor mats with the rubber piece. Of course this happend shortly after i bought the car...well not really 6 months i think but i had really really low miles at the time well still do, so i told them there is no way that is wear and tear with only like 3K on the car. So they replaced them

I spent 3 months working it before i got mine replaced. Some dealerships wont help and others are really cool about it. Talk to the parts dept 1st and see if theyll help you out. I went right to the service manager which was probably the worst thing I could have done. Ended up going to a different dealership and they hooked it up.

I got mine replaced with 06 floor mats. No questions asked. It all depends on your dealer. Good Luck!

I'll give it a shot - it's been a year, but my car has only 7k miles on it. I'll call around from some parts department.

The hole comes from the driver's left heel. Yes, it is technically wear and tear, but as has been discussed on here before, it seems like a defective product. The dealer sells these mats for like $130 and after 7k miles of use there is a big hole in them? C'mon... these things have less durability than your average air filter. That's not the quality that you paid the big bucks for. Obviously they know this because the 06 mats have a bit rubber part in the carpet where the heel goes. I consider the 05 mat a manufacturing defect. I'll call around and see what the parts departments have to say about it.

Yeah... when people were talking about this a few months ago, I thought I was lucky or something. I take good care of my mats and like I said I had them out all last winter, so although my car is just over a year old I've only had mats in for maybe 2/3 of the time. These things are totally defective. I'm curious about the replacement too. I'd guess full replacement - they don't sell them seperate, so I do not think it would help them to replace just one of yours, but I don't for sure. Anyone?

Heh... I just really like the Scion mats - I've had so many off-brand mats I wanted the nice ones. I like the sizing is perfect, the driver's side hooks into the floor so it's always perfectly situated, and the carpet is removable (which is why I think they had the problem - it's thinner than normal just to start). I expect a heck of a lot more than 1 year of wear from mats that expensive.

Definately depends on the dealer. The service department where I bought my car did warranty my mats. I still have my old ones on and the brand new ones in storage for when I really need them.
If you are having a problem with a particular dealer I would suggest calling scion.

I think I'm going to call the parts department at my dealer and if that doesn't work, I know another dealer that people have been talking up. Hey TCAV8R - did you talk to parts first or someone else (service, sales, etc.)?

I had the car in for a free oil change and asked the service person. Some of them know about the situation and some don't.
I did call prior to my arrival and asked someone and they told me no. When I did get there the service rep knew about the warranty issues with the floor mats.

mine lasted 2 months, i didn't have a hole, but i had a definate wear spot. i bought mine from trdsparks.com they said they would replace them, but i tried the dealer first. at the dealer, they gave me the usual run around by first saying its normal wear and tear, then they said they could only replace them with 05 mats. then i told them, i will be there in 2 months to get new ones after that replacement and that scion recognized the mats as defective by applying a rubber strip to the drivers mat.
they did my free oil change and when i got the car back they told me they replaced them with 06 mats as a "one time good will"

This doesn't happen on the '06 mats because they have a rubber heel pad to prevent it from happening - obviously Scion knows the difference.
