Front License Plate: Not if, but how...

Front License Plate: Not if, but how...
you mounted your front license plate.
I would , no doubt, prefer to leave it off, however back in my muscle car days I had the police come from having someone pulled over on the other side of a busy street, let them go, hop in his car pull an illegal (for mere mortals) u-turn and chase me down for... no front license plate. Great excuse for them to introduce themselves to you and get to know all about you. That being said, I would prefer to avoid the situation and all the subsequent fun that goes along with it.
It would be nice if someone made a nice low profile black fairing block that fit on the bumper between the upper and lower grilles that took advantage of the existing mounting holes. But I haven't seen anything like that so far.
I did not care for how the stock holes made the plate hang down partially obscuring the lower grille . I found a plastic license plate backing plate made by Bell and sold in many auto parts stores that enabled me to mount the plate higher up on the bumper so the grills are not obscured.
Just wondering what other mounts people have devised (I did the and have seen the 808 mount - didn't care for it myself on the tC).
Here's mine:
Stock:
With new mounting plate (better IMHO, but could definitely stand some improvement):
Regards,

Yeah, the eight-08 is nice in that you don't have to drill holes in the bumper cover, but the plate still hangs down . Just doesn't look great to me.
I think it would look better completely in front of the lower grill than just partially, but that may cause more problems than it solves...
As it is, the front license plate mounting situation on this car is obviously an after thought. It does look great without one though.

I don't have mine on either but I did have to run from a cop the other day. He passed me on the other side of the road and then turned around in someones driveway. Good thing the road is curvy and the road forks. I had a 50/50 chance. But I won, for now! I guess I need to set mine up some how too.

Screw having screws in your bumper. I think tomorrow I will go to home depot and make something like the 808 one for mine. Not planning on washers though. I will go with those spring loaded clips. Push it in, they spring out and hola, done.
I looked at the 808 tech section, sorry but that can be made for less than $15 they want.

But I still think the front plate mount makes the tC look as if it were equipped for eating corn on the cob through a picket fence. IMHO, a couple of nicely contoured fairing blocks in black would have gone a long way to help clean it up.
I just have to believe that with all the modding going on with this car, someone has to have come up with a better mousetrap.

im taking mine off. we're required to have front plates here in chicago, but i think they detract (albiet minimally) from the front appearance of the car. SO here is my question... mine is mounted now, what do i do to plug the gaping holes that now mar the surface of my poor tC's front bumper??
