Try using a heavier weight oil, 5w30 at least. That will make a much larger difference than the brand of oil you use. I'm a fan of Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum myself.

I switched 5w-30 @ 110k year round-no problems here! I used to burn though 2 qt until I realized I wasn't topping off like you should and i was changing it around 4,700 mark. So I add in more oil once the oil light on and change it at 4,500.

I have used Mobil 1 5w30 right when i got the car at 48k im at 111k now and i haven't ever had any problems

Mobil 1 0w20 and I have never burned more than 3/4 qt. per 6000 miles.
