Well, at least there's a reason.

8 months, 11,000 miles, and multiple rocks. No pits or scratches to the windshield.

Take off the aluminum hat and stop driving your car.

Had my car 4 months with 6000 miles. Many rock chips, and I just replaced my cracked windshield for $900 OUT OF POCKET!

Ive been a licensed driver for 11 years now and have NEVER had a cracked windshield until I got the scion tC.

It could be a freak accident, but its still good for people to share their experiences to see if there is a pattern.

So for the people with perfectly nice shiny chip-free glass, good for you, but there is no need to get all toyota defensive.

Kind of off topic, but why out of pocket? Most insurance includes coverage for windshields and you should have only paid your deductible (unless you have a high deductible, of course).

Rock chips on the glass or paint or both?

Because geico never told me initially that if i want full glass coverage i would need to pay an extra $8. Had i known i would of paid it. So i was informed there is a $500 deductible. I figure i would save my claims for something more important and costly, so i decided to go out of pocket this time. But i did tell them to add on full glass coverage from now on.

It just sucked. It ruined the new car experience for me a little bit. I look at my 4 month old car like its refurbished now. Oh and its rock chips on both. My glass was all pitted. I hope it was just a bad piece of glass i originally had and my new one wont do the same thing.

It was pretty cool that i got the identical glass again, imported from japan.

listen MesSCIah... as you can see I too live in Maine.. and I also work at a glass shop... so let me fill you in a little. Pits happen... especialy in Maine. That actually means that the glass is working. If it were any stonger any time a small rock hit your windshield it would just crack it instead of pitting it. as for the scratches... i got the same thing. My subaru had the same thing... I have 13kmiles as of this morning so I understand what your going through. Trust me when I say that the tests that the car manufacturers have to go through when it comes to glass is extremely extensive. I've been to detroit and seen them. And the same standards apply to every company. Some people believe that foreign cars have thinner glass.. not true. I'm not trying to give a speech but I understand and theres nothing that can be done. unless theres a recall.. we just have to all deal w/ it. hope this helps.

That sucks, but at least you got it worked out in case of it happening again.

Since you work in a glass shop mind if i ask a quick question? How long does it take for toyota OEM urethane to cure? Its been 48 hours now and its been around 50-60 degrees here in Hartford, CT. Is it safe to drive completely normal? Or should I just go easy for a while longer?

Just thought this isn't a US built car, it's 100% Japanese. Hehe, just wanted to point that out, no arguments left or right, just knocking on wood hoping it doesn't happen to me ^_^.

Lets whine a little... you have chips in your glass from rocks... what do you think its made out of steel of course if a rock hits your car at 50mph + its gonna do something and as for paint just like glass has regulation... people automatically read a forum and assume it is happening to everyone... like when rattles happened in a handful of peoples cars people started crying about it and said that the tc wasn't made well b/c 1 out of 100+K sold has a problem doesn't mean its made cheaply or anything like that even if 500 out 100+K have a problem that normal you are just reading about it on the forum so you figure that if it happened to them it must be happening to everyone... if you have a problem go to the dealership and use your warranty to fix it and if it doesnt fall under that go to your insurance company that is why you pay for it... don't cry about it do something to fix it.

just like in many businesses
if someone has a bad experience, they will complain, but good experiences are usually met with few praises.
We say "this went wrong on the tranny/glass/sunroof"
But we never say "nothing went wrong with the tranny/glass/sunroof".

3,000 miles and 4.5 month, no complaints.

Just so you know, windshields are suppose to be designed to withstand some abuse from rocks. No one is saying glass doesnt break.
