I tint windows and know a little about glass. The glass that our cars seem to be better than most cars. It has a nice look to it and is very clear. But on the other hand, if it is the same as all toyotas, toyota glass seems to scratch easier, just like mercedes. It doesn't mean that they are cheep. glass isn't made to withstand harsh surroundings.

If you had read any of the posts on this, you would have seen I acknowledge the fact that GLASS IS NOT INDESTRUCTABLE. Did I say it was "made out of steel?" I also asked a question. A relatively simple question.... Has this happened to anyone else? Other than Captain, nobody seems to get what i'm saying. I am more ____ed about the gouges down my driver and passenger side windows from rolling them up and down. You can call it whining or crying, but just show up early enough to read all the posts the whole way through before you throw some ignorant statements out.......thanks for your input, I guess

You go on here and you read about all these problems with the tC. Let me ask you this question HOW MANY tC OWNERS COME HERE IN RELATION TO HOW MANY ARE ON THE ROAD? Also How Many of those people come here only to complain about there cars? Take anything you read on here with a grain of salt not as fact. Last i heard toyota sold 35,000 tCs is the membership of this entire Site anywhere close to that? So you have a problem your probably the 1 out of every hundred. If 99 people out of 100 are not having a problem that tells that your in the minority. And from a quality control standpoint thats great.

We represent a very small number of tC owners. You may be having a problem but that is no reason to go bad mouthing Toyota. Cause frankly it might be a very isolated incident. By those stats thats 3,500 bad cars for every 35,000 cars.

He can badmouth Toyota if he wants, it's his opinion, but we know what's right and what the truth is.

Anyone in any car can have badluck causing them to hate the manu. in return!

3 pits on my car as well, 11k miles.

I also think the glass is a little weak on the Tc...

my experiences:
- 91 civic #1 = 50k miles while owning, no noticable pits or cracks
- 91 civic #2 = 70k miles, one noticable pit, rock was 1" in diameter so its to be expected
- 89 4runner = 80k miles, no pits no cracks.

In response to your statement regarding us not representing the whole scion population. How do you think actual statistics are taken? When studies show 75% of the population suffer from sleeping disorders, do you think they actually go out and survey every person on the planet? NO! they do their surveys on smaller groups that would give a good indication of what the population as a whole might be like. It may or may not be right. Its a good thing that people share their experiences on here and form oppinions based on lots of similar experiences (if they exist). So take a breath and relax.

I have 8k on mine. Nothing severe yet, a few minor quick-fix items, and a rock chip on the hood.

Sorry you've been having such a rough time... I'm just glad nothing really bad has happend to my car yet.

Call the number in my signature line, tell them the problems you've been having, get a case number, and get your car fixed.

Again, you need to take this problem up with your dealership, and then with Scion Customer Service. Members on this board are not responsable for any problems concerning your car, and cannot do anything directly to help you resolve said difficulties.

if your windshield gets hit with a bunch of rocks hard enough its going to chip it....

ive already had to have mine replaced. rick flew off the road and put a nice star in it that spread to a 3 foot crack...but then again i had to replace the one on my new civic too...

So you are trying to say b/c 2 or 3 out of the 50 or more that responded to this should count as a statistic... so even like you say if we did a smaller survery which isn't how they figure percentages up by the way... that would still make you in the smallest percentile for this problem which throws your theory right out the window but sure all relax... still no reason to whine about something that happens anytime something hits glass hard enough to blame it on the company.

Did you ever take a course in statistics? because I have. Last time I checked 2 or 3 out of 50 could possibly mean 4-6% of cars are defective. And yes, populations surveys & studies are done on a much smaller scale for your info. How they get exact numbers, i dunno because i am not a surveyor. But lets go by your argument and look at it the other way, just because your windshield is fine, doesnt mean that other people arent having problems that may or may not be quality related. The point is, we dont know. That is why we have forums such as scionlife to talk about stuff like this. If you consider it whining, then simply dont read it.

one thing that people have to take into concideration is areodynamics. some vehicles I find are more prone to getting hit. I've replaced hundreds of windshields and to be honest I've done more domestics then foreigns. I know it sucks... but untill they come out w/ a bug deflector for the hood (which i doubt, not to mention how ugly it would be) nothings going to change. (btw those deflectors work for most of the rocks too)

Anyone else have any glass problems? Must also be extremely cheap. I have had my tC for just about 6 months with just over 5000 miles and I have probably 6 noticable pits on my windshield. They aren't really big, but it always looks like you got crap on your window. Also, both of my side windows have some very unattractive vertical scratches that are somewhat deep. Granted, we still have a good amount of dirt on the roads still, but I don't ride anybodys ___ and I keep my car pretty clean. Do I now need to vacuum around my windows before I roll them down? Is this "soft" glass? I love my car, but it seems to be falling apart on me. My 93 MX-3 had no problems like these the 4 years I owned it..... and this was a MILD winter.

Just want to know if this a problem with anyone else...... cuz it sucks.....
i got 2 and i got 6000 miles on it ...i think the paint and glass are cheap as well..that's y they can sell it for that price
