Well if that is how vvti works, I guess it would. I granny my car pretty much most of the time. Not much hard acceleration since I got it. Maybe once or twice thats it.

How would an oil change ever effect your RPM at a constant speed on an MT?

The gears are locked to the motor. You may have to give it more gas if your engine is "bogging" but the rpms will always be identical at the same speed. We do not have variable drivetrains. A final gear ratio, and 5 gears, all with fixed numbers.

Sorry, just when I saw the oil change thing my face lit up.

Ya like he said, its the low gearing, thats why on the manual tranny, the first couple gears are very tourquey, i was also trippin out when i first saw that i was going 90 and revving at 4k

but i heard it from somewhere that changing oil can save you gas, since it makes the engine runs better.

This is quite possibly the dumbest thread yet. We need more stringent restrictions on who can get a drivers license.

You can look up the gear ratios, final drive ratio and diameter of your tire and find out the exact rpm you'll be running at any speed. All you need to do is a bit of multiplication. It never ever varies, it's impossible.

I'm now dumber for having read this thread.

Just so everyone knows. If you have a manual transmission you will all have the exact same rpm at the same speed and if you have a AT you will have the same rpm as everyone else with an AT. How much you engine is broken in or how close you are to an oil changes has absolutely nothing to do with your rpm at a given speed.
