Oh.. the noise is only really noticable when under a light light load.. ie. If i'm rolling in 2nd or 3rd, and bearly touch the gas.. you'll hear it.

The story they are giving you about the wrist pin is BS. Tell them the next time that they want to serve you crap, to give you some ketchup to help it go down.

Im willing to bet you have a wiped camshaft or a rod is about to let go from the crank.

Which should be covered under warranty correct? Do you think that my intake or header would be the cause? No word yet.. hopefully tommorow morning.

In the real world, no.
From what little I know, the only way to damage the rods or crank are to over-rev it or oil starve it. I'd ask for a new oil pump in the deal.

Ok.. I just got off the phone with the dealership again...

He's telling me now that the WR intake had a bunch of metal in it that was sucked into the engine.. so I have metal shavings in it.. he also needs me to get a stock header to put back on so he can evaluate the noise again. I guess the cat on my Megan Racing Header has broke apart but hasn't blown out yet. He said he took it off and it sounded like a bunch of marbles inside of it...

I need to see if anyone has a spare or extra stock header I can borrow so these guys can evaluate my tC.

He said they took a borescope and was looking at the cylinders and there were scratches inside of it, but doesn't know if its from the aledgid metal flakes being introduced to my engine... WTF!

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Find out what type of metal they are saying is inside your motor!!!! If it isn't aluminum, they are full of crap! If the short ram doesn't show any damage, they are just making this up as they go along....

I physically went and looked at the flakes... they are in the intake, and they are in the cylinders. Its the WR Intake, does anyone know if its aluminum or metal? They wanted me to get another header (stock) to see if the sound changed any without the damn cat rattling. I thought about it, and its common sense that there is no way the cat could have sucked back into the engine. So.. I told them to go ahead and continue the tear down and lets see whats up. Obviously metal or aluminum chips are not good.. especially if they are floating around in the engine and scraping the cylinder walls. I still dont know how flakes could cause such a knock. We still believe that its the wrist pin or the piston ring. I should know by the end of the day (hopefully) what this is, and the odds of it getting repaired under warranty. I got my damn fingers/toes crossed and knotted!

So.. since its aluminum.. now what? I guess it wouldn't be AS MUCH as an issue now.. since its obviously softer.. and with the engine heated.. really shouldn't be as hard. Maybe this isn't the case. Should I bring that to their attention?
