It told me that the sound was caused by the subwoofer being on.. which is funny because it was off and my headunit faceplate was in my hand) hopefully it gets taken care of soon.. The sun roof rattle is bad enough.. which they still didn't fix.. as well as the radio doors.. now the hatch..
Blaming it on the sub is really funny as everyone knows it is a "known problem". I am anxious to see what the TSB indicates the fix to be as I have heard multiple fixes to this problem (due to a welding problem, latch, stoppers, wire harness hitting metal). What I think is weird is the problem comes and goes. So not sure if closing the hatch sometimes has a "better fit" that other times. I listen to the stereo so much I don't really notice but would be nice to have fixed.

I have my amp under the passenger seat, so you won't see it unless you're looking. and I went ahead and put crimps on the speaker wire going back to the sub, allowing me to disconnect them. They had no idea I had a sub when I took it in . They lowered the latch I think, and it seemed to solve the problem for a bout a week, just came back tonight. I am going to look at the mechanism myself and tighten it down myself.

yep. older build need minimal latch adjustment. newer (2/05) corrected. weather related for some odd reason. less problem in hotter climates. no tsb but dealer will know about the latch adjustment . gl

Think it is more to do with the latch adjustment as indicated by other post. I have tried moving the foam near spare tire but no luck.....

Where did I put that post????

Oh yeah here it is:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...er=asc&start=0

Page 3 has some good stuff.

And as an update the rattle has yet to re-appear, even when we've hit the low 90's.

Of course now that I've posted that, it's gonna rattle like hell on the way home.

I have the same problem...

Do you think it may be that your car is dropped and one of the springs in the rear is not sitting properly?

I always hear the noise when I go over bumps.
