Even if stuff is covered by warranty, the fact that warranty repair services always quote hours and give you the go arounds kinda deters me. Customer satisfaction at the botton line just isn't that great.

oh wow, the hatch struts wore out and theres a few rattles and your complaining like its the end of the world. im just glad you didnt buy a new GM or Ford...

for the price, this is the best car in its class regardless of all the little problems it has.

oh wow, the hatch struts wore out and theres a few rattles and your complaining like its the end of the world. im just glad you didnt buy a new GM or Ford...i dont know what your reaction would be to all the recalls their new cars have... the fact that its a first year model and has no MAJOR issiues is a very good thing. a few rattles here and there are normal, trust me. my aunts brand new Escalade rattles much more than my car.. and thats like a $60k car. yeah the tC doesnt have as much quality as toyota..if it did you wouldnt have paid $17k for it. you get what you pay for. if u were lookin for very good quality, you should have bought a lexus or somthing

I don't see how that justifies anything. That like comparing rotten apples to rotten oranges trying to pick the better out of the two. The fact is that in general, 17 thousand dollars is a LOT of money and its not like buying a cheap toy and its especially true if you don't have rich parents getting you a Lexus or a Bimmer for your 16th birthday and if you're not living a life without expenses (don't get angry, I'm not saying your one of 'em). Like I said, maybe the first, two, three times is normal, but after going more than six times, it gets aggravating. I'm sorry your aunt wasted 60k on a new Escalade that rattles more than a 17k Scion.

Ahem, my Toyota was actually 6k less than my Scion. Not to mention that Toyota was a first gen of that model '99 and was probably built in America as opposed to this Japanese built Scion (don't know if that makes any quality difference)

If no one complained, then Scion wouldn't know what to fix.

I'm really disappointed by quality control. It seems like my car is a neverending source of little failures, squeaks, rattles, and clanks. I don't care if this car was "cheap" and "only" costed 19 grand out the door. The fact is, it was still nineteen thousand dollars (more with apr) that I'm paying for from a car company like Toyota whose been known for good quality cars. I've had a '99 14k Corolla and it didn't give me ANY trouble. I've taken my car for warranty repair services over 6 times now and its getting old. Plus the guys at the Toyota dealership always claim they "cannot reproduce the problem" and waste hours of my time giving me plenty of crap in the process. What a pain!
First year of a 1st generation car slapped together in under 2 years. We jump the gun, we pay the price.
^^^ perfectly said.

5,000,000 miles? No wonder you're having problems with it... j/k

Aside from having to get the retaining ring on the shifter replaced (there's a TSB for it) and having the cupholder LED's fall out of place because they are held on with TAPE, I haven't had any problems with my tC.
