I bought a TC because I was tired of having a used car. Tired of tracking down issues, rattles, road noise. What I got was a "new" car that is worse in every category than every used car I've owned.
Quit _____ing and get another used car then!! Damn this site is supposed to be for showing the love the Scion and I have read a few of your posts and they all sound just like this one. I know people who would LOVE to have a new car and would not be complaining one bit about some rattling. If you can't stand a little rattle i suggest you get a nice comfy pair of shoes and start walking. I just hope your feet don't start sweating because then we would have to hear you _____ about that ____ too. After a little while of that ____ you would be wishing you had a car that rattled.
Sorry about that everyone, I just had to say that. This dude's posts have been making me mad!

yeah, in defense of tC owners (F all you all who rip on us xA and xB owners) the tC is a great car. I do have my issues with them, but for the price and the value, it is a great deal. Most of the issues are rather small, and from what I can tell there aren't too many instances of the car exploding(if indeed they are even for real). But given the benefit of the doubt, it is still a worthwhile investment, in my opinion besting other econo-coupes( or sporty coupes if you are sensitive to the word, but it is, like a civic; celica is a true sporty coupe, or miata, Integra, but besides the point) in its range.

I think it is a good debate because I am considering a used 350z for my girl as well as a new TC. Nissans are great, I'm biased because of the FX, but the interior of the new Z in orange with the navigation is just killa! Problem is it gets up to and beyond 30k for the nice interior in a new z with nav etc.

I can afford the 350z, but the TC is just more practical I think. It has a backseat, more room, easier to own, etc.

Plus, I plan on getting aftermarket navi for the tc which is a lot less than the 350z nav.

I luv Z's and drool everytime I see one, but I don't fit in one and it's a much better deal for me to hook my girl up with a modded TC so I'm putting off the Z for now....

Whitescion... it basically comes down to performance or price Obviously both cars are beautiful. If you aren't a performance buff just get some leather in the tC and enjoy a new car . :D

Now and in the long run you will spend more money on the Nissan in repairs and insurance so make sure performance matters to you if you decide on the 350z.

since we're on the scion forum... might as well bring about the news some of you might've read the past couple days. the tc will probably only be here till 08, the 350z, who knows? not that then you wouldn't be able to buy an old one, but heh... owning one the year it came out, kinda cool in my opinion. (kinda stupid reason actually, but i would like to think otherwise)

I currently own a 350z and I love the car to death, however it can be a pretty expensive love affair with all the mods, insurance, and normal maintenance. I currently have a Black Cherry Tc on order that I plan on using as my daily driver. If this is going to be your only vehicle then I think the Tc would probably be the better choice.

Believe it or not a TC is alot faster than you think it is. Yea 160 hp doesnt sound like much, but you have to remember it weighs 2900 pounds. Ive raced a lexus IS300, (215 hp) which weighs 3255 and its equal speed. Now as far as compared to a 350Z, think of it like this, theres a $5,000 difference between both cars. Buy a TC, and then buy an exhaust and supercharger for about $3500 and be able to maintain your new car's warranty. You'll be pushing around 225hp on a 2900lb car, which is going to be quicker than the stock 350z 287hp on 3239lb car. Thats what i recommend if money is an issue. If money isnt that big of an issue, then definitely take the 350z !

The number 1 complaint from IS300 owners is that it is slow, compared to the competition, especially for a $30k car. . . just browse some of the owner forums. . .

I'm not bashing the tC, but bone stock, it's no supercar. . . it's borderline sporty.

Dang, even the Nissan Altima 3.5 SE 6spd (4door SEDAN) can break 6 seconds to 60mph (5.9). If you want the true sports car, it would be the Nissan. . . but for more practical reasons, the tC makes A LOT more sense and would be my choice. If I needed a cheap toy, I would buy a used Camaro or Corvette; no mods necessary, dirt cheap, and FAST.

That guy is a dreamer and most likely won't buy either car!!! Some 18 year old punk that would like to think he has a choice but will most likely end up with a beat up dodge neon!

Just drive grandma's car and save your McDonalds paycheck for spring break

All this talking and the guy only posted once! This is crazy damit!!!
Ha, I totally agree with you, and it's funny how conversations like this get out of hand. It's obvious to me to that the guy is fairly young.

But I like this discussion and will contribute to this time wasting affair! ha.

I myself am biased, as I also own a 300ZX TwinTurbo.
Just to start off, in defence of a number of hits against the Z,
- every car's got problems, especially first generation cars.
- tire wear problems can be fixed with alignments. period.
- a "used" 23,000 mile Z is still a new car. I bought my 300ZX TT with 19,000 miles and put on another 100,000 miles. That includes 2 autox SEASONS (~19 events) and about 13+ days at the race track. I also don't drive it like a caddilac either, but like it was ment to be. 23,000 miles is still a new car. It's only lived <1/5 if it's life for crise sakes.

What you should get depends on what you want/need in life.
- gas milage
- ins
- performance
- status
- reliability
- options
- etc...

you need to make your own choice.

me personally, if I didn't already have my Z, I would choose the 350Z, no question. Performance and car handling in the utmost importance to me over gas milage and ins..

Would I sell my 300ZX TwinTurbo for a 350Z? Hell no. For 20k-30k, I could make my 300ZX TwinTurbo a Viper eating beast. Viper eating beast or Boxter eating beast. No question in my book.

Although I like the tC and like it's lines, comparing that to a 350Z is like the other guy said, comparing Hondas to Porsches. Don't fool yourself, the tC is a sporty looking sedan. It is not a "Sports Car". That's ok though, as there are advantages to both and not everybody needs a sports car. Look at me, I bought an 4door xA for my second car.

You need to figure out what you want and what you need, and what you can afford.

Hey man I loooove the 350z as much as the next guy, and almost got one. But have you seen the tC in person? It's definetly a good looking coupe. If the tC and Z had the same performance, I'd have to go with the tC. Now on the otherhand, I love the romantic idea of two seats, and RWD. If given a choice as it is, I'd def take a 350z. But in person, man the tC looks HOTT!
