Default Help a noob out?

hey guys, pretty new around here and i'd like to say that this site is full of good info and some pretty hot cars!
anyways i'm finally gonna be doing my first real mod to my car and couldn't decide on what to do..
im looking at spending around the $200 area. not much i know but thats all i feel like spending right now =) gotta save for bigger mods as well hah
anyways im either looking at a short throw shifter (twm) or springs (hotchkis)the thing about the spings is im planning on getting coilovers(H&R)sometime in the future so i wasnt sure if i should either just get springs first or just go straight to the coilovers if there are other mods that i can do for around 200 (give or take) let me know .all help/comments/opinions would be appreciated.
thanks in advance

oh and also, im not worried about the installation of the springs so im not going to count installation as part of the $200

first things first you can prob. get both the springs and the short throw, though install for the springs alone would run you about 300 unless you do it yourself.

I would go with dr. Isotopes short throw kit (50-100 aprox.) and tein springs and have a local scionlifer help you on the install. Though if you want to go coilovers then just scrub both those ideas and just save up. personally my car is a daily driver and on bad roads so I would have to get springs rather than coilovers but its your call.

don't be fooled into get a 200+ dollar CAI that won't do much but make noise, but instead make your own GFI intake if you feel the need to add a little power.

I could go all day but I'll stop there.

If you're planning on coilovers, don't bother with the springs ... but then, how far away are coilovers in the plans?

A short shifter is a good start and easy to do.

You could always do a rear swaybar too.

I say get front and rear sways. Maybe a different shift **** too. I'm not a fan of the stock one.

the first 3 things i did!

1 Tint - picked up my car and drove to the tint shop

2 Short Thro - TWM stage 2(that was b4 i knew about doc, basically the same thing, both make great products, docs are just alot less expensive and custom tailored to how you want it)

3 Springs, Wheels and Tires - Springs will set off the look of you ride, and new tires are needed badly with the crap stockies, let me tell ya :D

What is your overall goal for the car?

I agree with those above that if you want to do coil overs then wait on the springs.

A CAI isn't going to do much for you except increase the in car noise while driving.

Short shifter you would be able to notice the difference right away.

I say Short shifter!

thats my 2 cents

^hey jc! i thought you were talking about getting tint first. the short shifter will be nice but you have to do something so its easier for me to spot you on the road! j/k. waiting to afford coilovers will be a great idea. I have coilovers on my 4Runner, but i think its a little different. hahaha.

unless you demand adjustible dampening, you don't need coilovers. just a good set of lowerings springs and shocks will make the car handle better. that and sways!
