Default Hi I'm new and Junk

Ello,

Well I think my Wifey want to trade in her Plymoth Neon DOHC for a Scion Tc. We test drove one last Friday, and we're going go order it after work.

Well About us,
We live in Maryland USA,
I drive a Silver Honda Civic HX Coupe daily.
She's trading in her Neon (POS)
We have an 87 Chevy S-10 Pickup, for around the house and to haul our Kayaks
Also I just Purchased my 1993 Ford Probe GT, I'm going to completely restore it.
I know a lot of people don't like Ford and Honda, but I'm just not going to get into a debate, I like my cars.

I also help run a Car Care Ministry at my Church, we do repairs and Maintenance stuff, for the elderly and single women, and anyone in need.
I don’t know everything, but I’m willing to learn anything, when it comes to cars.

So anyway, we’re looking at this scion, and it seems like a really great Value, it’s a really nice car, and it’s so much less expensive than the RSX, we were also looking at the RSX type S.

It's a toyota so It's reliable, right?
Any Problems yet ?
How is Maintenence?

Also what is the Quarter Mile time?? Stock.
I couldn’t find it in any magazines,
It’s got a lot of Torque, so I’m curious.

Anyhoo…. I’m just looking for some feedback..
Thanks

Hi, welcome. You can find plenty of information here in the tC portion of the SL forum. Just read around and please use the Search above if you have any specific questions. People will talk about every little thing, so you can't go wrong with search on here...

Peace.

Congrats and welcome! Definitely read through some older threads on the board. You'll find a ton of information. We all assume the tC will be as reliable as other Scions and Toyotas, but the oldest tC is less than a year old still, so only time will tell.

Well, as far as the engine and tranny go, they are as reliable as you can get. The engine is from the Camry, and so is the 5-speed. Not sure about the auto.

Welcome,

While you could search for this information, I can try to answer some of it from memory. Please see below...

There have abeen a # of TSB's but none were major, so far so good. it is indeed a toyota. From what I've heard it is the only US toyota completely made in Japan (good or bad? your call)

Also what is the Quarter Mile time?? Stock.

15.7 if I remember correctly. The one thing about this car that is great if you like tuning is... it is hugely tuner friendly. Pop the hood at the dealer and look at all that room (FI... here we come)

Also, the suspension is ... fun... stock but needs some help (particularly with the understeer) but nothing you cannot fix with TRD parts (warranty) or other brands (non-warranty)

I couldn’t find it in any magazines,
It’s got a lot of Torque, so I’m curious.

It’s nice to meet you too…

BTW, the whole point of my post is to say

“Ello I’m new”

Also, Trying to answer the question
“How fast can the Tc run the Quarter mile?”
With a search is pretty pointless cause you get 54 pages of results and none of the subject lines in the first three pages contains the words “Quarter Mile”
(Search [quote=shane.reid]eslip)

15.7 is about what I woulda guessed the Type S is 14.9 so it’s almost a second behind, but 15.7 is still pretty darn respectable.

I don’t think we’ll be modifying the Tc too much though, just can’t get the wifey all into it, And I’ll be dropping too much time and money into my other car. =\

That is strange about the Tc being made completely in Japan, I really could care less, but you are going to get some fanatics about that.

Thanks for answering my questions!

Welcome to the board, and congrats on your purchase..
I agree that some people get a little weird about this search button thing.. just ignore them.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your new vehicle.. (probably so much that you'll find yourself working on it more then the probe.. )
