Default HID installing battery question

Ok I been reading around making sure not to be electrocuted when I do this. When you're installing the terminals of your HID on to the battery. You should do the following is this order right?

1. Remove the nut from the NEGATIVE terminal on the battery and DISCONNECTED it from the big round **** thing
2. Remove the nut from the positive terminal on the battery
3. Put the red wire terminal to the battery end on the Positive side and tightening it
4. Put the black wire terminal to the battery end on the NEGATIVE side and tightening it.

This would prevent me from getting shocked right?

Also its best to wear rubber/plastic gloves when doing this right?

its low voltage, don't worry about gettin shocked. ive dropped a socket on the pos and neg and picked it up when it was sparking.

you'll be fine, just don't touch positive to negative (and vice versa)

my HIDs are connected directly to my battery (pos and neg)

anyway, you don't really have to disconnect it, it's more like a precaution but i always do it cause it's better to be safe than sorry. disconnecting just the NEG terminal should be fine.. make sure you don't touch the POS terminal when disconnecting the NEG tho..

if you wanna disconnect both then your steps are right.. remember not to touch both at the same time! oh and btw, you don't have to use gloves or anything.. bare handed with a socket wrench is fine ..GL with the install and let us know how it went

Well i was unfamiliar with that way of powering them. Mine just plug into the stock harness. What HId's use there power striat off the battery like that. It seems kinda wierd you would do that though. I would think a better way would be through a plug and play through the oem connecter.

he used a relay so that you wouldnt use the stock harness to power up the ballast whch require alot of energy....this in turn may fry the stock harness, resulting in a big damage to the electrical system. the relay powers up the ballast using the battery so no big surge of energy is sent through the stock harness

well I got it working but now my passanger side window doesn't work wtf? and my sunroof opener works sluggishly. What did I do wrong here? I even disconnected and redid it again still same thing. Should I go to my dealer to ask them to fix it? would it cost money? my car has less than 1k miles on it.

Are you using a relay harness? What HIDs did you buy? My sunroof has like a .2 second delay when I push open.. before it used to be move instantly when I pushed open or close.. and the passenger window doesn't work either at random times but after pressing buttons on the HVAC, it works. that was after I installed my fogs tho.. best thing I could think of is try disconnecting the HIDs from 12v and ground and try the window and sunroof to see if it's really the HIDs causing the problem..

take it to the dealer either way.. DONT bring up your HIDs tho.. see how that goes and lemme know cause I'll be taking mine soon also

! For real, that is exactly when mine started acting up. Like after HID my sunroof's response is deinfinitely more sluggish and retarded while my passenger side window doesn't even work now. Do you think I should take off my HID and then go to dealer ship? LoL I mean if I take it over there I'm sure they'll see all the wiring to the battery. If I take it out I can just say it happened on its own. I think installing the HID messed with may be some computer chip in the car? anyone know anything about this?

It's because you disconnected the battery, has nothing to do with the HIDs. Just search for the way to reset the sunroof and windows. I think it's in the tech section.
