Anyone have the theory of the car sitting on hot asphalt?? Would that be where the deviation in actual temperature is coming from.
The temp guage should be an actual probe on the car somewhere. now as for finding it...

I havent looked, but I am guessing under a body panel somewhere. It reads higher after it sits than when first parked, and you have to move the car down the road to settle it back down. This leads me to believe it is under the fender, under the car, etc. When parked the heat builds up underneath the cars body panels. When moving, although sheilded from the wind you are pulling the hot air from beneath, which would explain this. Just my guess though.

Open the hood, to the left side looking down at the radiator, in front of it is the AC purge valve and a control valve it appears, the temp sensor is mounted to the front of that unit.

I have one of those too

It reads high when you first turn the car on cause its been sitting and your engine compartment is all metal so its like an oven. Once you get going its pretty accurate. Driving in the middle of wide roads in the sun seems to add a few to it. Maybe 2 to 5 degrees high but plenty close.

There are a couple of places around town that have temp. display. The tC temp. reading is always within a few degrees.

After moving north, I have found how much I miss thoses 100 degree days! It is nice to have a milder summer, but I also wish it would get a little blistery once in a while here. But, it is fun to hear people here in MN talk about how hot 92 - 93 degrees is

PSH...it's funnier listening to people that think 50 is so cold they need a winter jacket...that's shorts weather.

And the temp gauge isn't off only in the summer.

January in North Dakota, mine read 55 out...it was warm, but not that warm, settled down to a nice 28

You'll be happy to know that it handles negative temperatures very well. Saw 1 day at -57F last winter.

True Where I used to live it did get below 10 occassionally.. so I can handle some cold... but the below 0 part I am still getting used to

Draven, you musta been in the Duluth area for that temp!!! That is just colder than hell!

That is just way too cold. Hardly ever gets more than -5 here and thats enough for me. I also hate the 5 months of no sun just clouds all day every day.

haha I think the coldest we get in the winter is right around the freezing point... I grew up in Colorado so I could live without snow now.

Of course, Vegas isn't exempt either...

I know how that is. I have had enough snow to last for many years and not be sad without it.
