It could very well be a factory defect....they don't know what caused it, the OP doesn't know what caused it....hell blame it on the factory and have them replace it. Tell the m it shouldn't be like that and they should look into it.

use blak electrical tape and cover it up, you can't do anyhting about it really unless the dealership is super nice

 

the dealership is going to laugh at you. i gurantee you. for one because they know u have messed with it and two because it clearly looks like something was spilled on that. maybe someone rested a lit joint on it and you guys wee too high to think bout it and you closed it and then went for a drive and it moved around and burned the isht out of it. haha just kidding.
