3 weeks is nothing. here in socal the waiting time is 2 months for a tC automatic and 4 months for a manual. we currently have 40+ deposits, so don't feel so bad.

I'd skip the side airbags if I were you. The side airbags are only going to deploy if you get hit in the door, there are no sensors anywhere else on the side. Remember, manufacturers/insurers don't want the bags to deploy if they don't have to.

The tC has 3 beams in the door to protect the passengers in side impacts, that's better than many other cars in our class.

There are actually two more sensors on each side of the rear quarter panels, so they will still deploy if you get side smacked in the rear, but ony the curtain bags will depoly, not the seat side bags. If a door is hit, then both side and curtain bags deploy. :D

You can always travel to the dealership in fairview heights IL. I walked out with mine the same day. They had 2 there. Black and silver. I don't think I would have waited 3 weeks. I would have bought a Mazda 3 if the Tc were backordered. Why not buy one of the 20 on autotrader? They have like 500 miles on them and are 2 grand less than new. Saw one for 15,000 the other day. Save yourselves the depreciation.

Hey, Fairview Heights. . .I grew up in that neck of the woods. Mascoutah. Go southern Illinois.

Actually, 3 weeks for tC with side airbags is really good, unless he's lying to you. The largest dealership in these parts has several tCs of assorted colors and transmissions, but only a couple with side airbags. When I picked mine up a month ago I was told something like 1 in 50 were coming into the region with side airbags.

the reason why they're first come first serve basis is because they don't get more than 4 or 5 tC a month.

good luck if they can get you the car. if not you know where you can reach us.

MOVING back to topic...

Get the side airbags, they'll help lower your insurance.

Beams don't protect you from anything but intrusion. Side air bags increase the time of impact to reduce the crash loads on your body, reducing injury.

you're not alone. a week or two after waiting for my tC. the same exact scenario happened to me. i was all excited to think my tC was going to be in from another dealership the next day, only to find out later that afternoon that there was a mistake and the tC at the other dealership had already be sold. S-O-L. no?

how is that bait and switch? are they switching him into a more expensive tC or a different color. all they said was they made a mistake, the car was already sold.

what tC buyers have to understand just because a dealer says they can get one for you cause they see it in their "locator" doesn't mean the car is available. all scion dealers has some form of a deposit or waiting list for their allocated tC. they have customers waiting in line for the tC just like any scion dealer across the nation.

dealers can tell you what you want to hear. oh, it'll be here in a couple of days, weeks a month. people that come to our dealer always seem to ask why the waiting time for us is so long while another dealers in the area promises to have the car within a couple of weeks. cause we don't do business that way, i'd rather tell a customer 2 months with the possibility of getting the car sooner. sure we can say 3 to 4 weeks but what happens when there's no car 4 weeks and then 4 weeks turns into 3 months. there are a lot of dealers that do business that way, which they shouldn't. what they end up getting is a ____ed off the buyer.

i think my dealer might've pulled something like that on me.

i originally wanted just a plain old flint mica 5 spd tC with nothing. just barebones. that was about a week ago. i've called pretty often to get updates and i've been emphasizing how important it is that i receive it as soon as possible. so guess what shows up on his computer? an FM 5spd tC WITH side airbags. 650 more... i'm still willing to get it.. but still... i didn't want that. but i need the car. stupid jerks.. using that need. anyway, the dealer can laugh all the way to the bank.. with however much they get more for the side airbags.. which probably isn't much. haha... suckers...

NO WAIT!!! hahaha.. btw.. it's an AT... ehh.. it's not bad.. responds better than i orginally thought compared to a MT... though.. it obivously lacks that oopmh.. heheh.. oh yeah.. people got ____ed off.
