Default I lost my keys, how much to replace?

I lost my keyless entry key. How many keyless entry keys does the scion tc come with? How much to replace? Should I be worried about someone finding my keys?

id say get a new key as soon as possible, once u go to get the key programmed they will actually program all the keys you have as well as the new key ur buying. this is to ensure that the only keys that can open ur car and start ur car will be the ones u have in ur possession....(i was pickin up a part and overhead them tellin someone that)

oooo don't lose the second master key. I read somewhere in the manual that if you lose them they have to replace the immobilizer too. Something like that.

Of course, otherwise what would be the point of a key that just opens the locks?

There are:

Two (2) Keyless entry keys. The number tag should also be on it (a small metal plate that uniquely identifies your set of keys or something like that. Needed for getting new keys according ot my dealer).

One (1) valet key. This key can do basically everything a regular key can, save for opening the glovebox. Oh, and obviously it doesn't have the buttons... so if you have a clumsy valet, you might not want to let him use the valet key, since he'll probably scratch up your door handle trying to open your locks

Total: Three (3) keys.

Um, Im pretty sure you can lose the second master key too (NO A GOOD IDEA). The Valet key will still work with it. All new Scions, tC's anyway, have a metal tag that comes with them from the dealership. It has a set of numbers on it and if you lose your keys you give them that number and they will get you a copy of your key wit the corresponding code in it so that the car recognizes it. I don't think they even have to program it into the cars computer since it's the same code. There's another person on this forum that only has the valet key right now and everything works fine but I know they want to get a new remote key, not sure if they did anything about it yet though.

i would hope that they would reprogram the keys. that would mean that nebody who finds ur key can go to ur car and drive away with it....they would have to reprogram the new key, as well as the other keys that you have

^ No, they can't reprogram the others, however, They can clear all the stored codes, the tC can only hold 4, and then program all the new ones you have. That means the person with your key can open your doors and stuff, but they can't start the car. You can have the locks chged though I think and then you would have new keys to program and all will be good.
