I gave up on the cold air portion of it after 30 mins.. my Evap thing didnt really fit either I just got ____ed off and pushed it in really hard.. not sure if its in securely :p

I'll probably try to get the cold air portion of it in one of these days.. and try again from the engine bay since it worked for you.

Pretty happy with the intake as a short ram right now. It sounds pretty cool

I fell in love with it when I took a test drive and gave it WOT merging onto a highway. It just sounds so... raw. It's immensely throaty and addictive, even if you do get a little better HP gain from the CAI. It also makes the engine bay look better, in my opinion.

1) Take off front Driver tire
2) Unscrew wheel-well panel
3) pull back wheel-well panel and "fit" behind the brake caliper
4) look into fender well

This is where it gets tricky

5) SLOWLY feed the bottom section of the CAI towards the opening in the fender wall to the engine bay
6) ROTATE the piping so that it creeps its way into the engine well to fit with the first pipe coming off the intake manifold (commonly known as the Short-RAM pipe)
7) It WILL get scratched if you dont bend or dremel down the fender wall. (though this wont matter since the scratched part cant be seen).

Enjoy power and sound....

There ya go guys, the watered down version.. lol. If you have any questions, you know what to do..

Hmm yeah.. thats exactly what I did, but I didnt want to dremel away at my car! I tried to bend the fender wall a little but didnt work.. I guess the only possible way without usign a dremel is to keep trying to rotate it it until it fits >_<

Lol. The pipe is 3", and the hole is ALMOST 2-7/8's. So, thats why you need to force, rotate, and dremel a little.

Lol - looks like I need to dremel tomorrow. I got it in there without doing that and it does a metal on metal sound. I isolated it so far, but its a temp fix.

I just put my Injen CAI a few minutes ago.I was afraid it was going to take a few hours after hearing a few peoples stories. It wasn't bad at all only took an hour to do.I left the wheel on just turned all the way to the left, loosened the bumper side(left bumper on),and took half the inner fender loose.I set the second pipe up there on a funny angle spun it around(used a small amount of force) and it popped in.The hardest part was getting that peice of plastic to go around the hole.I spent more time on that then anything else.No CEL, runs good,no rattling.I very happy with it like the sound and I can tell there is a little power gain but not a ton.

Smooth_J: I suggest the Doc. I CAI sleeve.

OR

Go to Lowes of home depot and get Tube-Insulator (just ask, if they speak english they should know what your asking for. )
Get enough to wrap around the CAI where the metal hits metal. No more rattling.

Vulgar_Wraith: Good job man and congrats, Your one of the few who get it done easily...lol

DISCLAIMER: Everyone knows that most of the employees at Lowes and HomeDepot hardly speak english. Be that they are white or not, they still have a hard time with it...Lol)

This was my easiest install next to my RS1 lip haha, the only time consuming part was taking off the wheel and the fender liner. If you want a difficult install, try springs w/out an impact gun.

Well...heres the issue. I took out Docs (didn't want to) now no rubbing issue - however now it vibrates to hell. I am going to home depot tomorrow and see I can make a half mount based on Docs idea, or try to tie it down some via fishing wire and the two bolts left for the stock intake. Does anyone think poly foam might work well?

Sorry to bring back a old post, but the issue is still around
I tried the tube insulator, foam, and rubber and for some reason it eventually "eats" its way though it and its metal on metal again. The only thing that I have gotten to work is mouse pad (has fabric on top and foam on bottom. However over time the pressure gets to it and compresses the foam. As it is I have set it up this way:

I have foam/rubber liner (the one that came with the kit) on the bottom. Then around 2-3 o'clock I have the mouse pad.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got off my butt and installed the cold air portion of the intake.. it was actually pretty easy from the bottom like posted earlier. I scratched it up pretty bad from previous attempt.

Did you guys notice a rattling sound after installing the intake? 100% sure its just the cold air portion hitting the fender.. stupid rubber piece they sent me wont stay on.. I had to order the Doc I plate. Anyone else using the Doc I plate?

You might be hearing the nefarious-but-harmless VSV noise, but you only really notice that at idle. If it's at any speed, though, you're right.

I hear the rattle when I shift, clutch in sometimes and when I turn off the car. I really hope the Doc I plate thing works.. metal to metal is eating up my intake.. car 1.. intake 0.

Well, assuming that it isn't hitting something lower in the piping, yes it will. It's quite well made and does the trick, from what I understand.

get doc's fender plate and call it a day. and for future reference, if you don't want the cai part of the intake to get scratched up, just cut a hole in a sock and slip it over and install it.

someone mounted durable foam cushions around the pipe. try doing that with zip ties or something.
