I dont get the appeal of painting the engine cover to look a honda engine. Its a Toyota... ...Great job on the paint though. Hats off to the workmanship. Very clean.

If I dont like it Im gonna say something but I always respect the effort and a job well done. As long as you like it thats what counts. Keep moddin and enjoying your Scion the way it was meant to be...

Well done. Good choice of finish and what to paint/not paint.

Also looks like you did not only a tasteful job, but did it well.

I think it looks nice. The comment about painting it to look honda... Honda isnt the only car that has a colorful engine cover. So why does this look honda?

Just wondering...

Can you not add 2-3 coats of clear on the final product so that it would come out not so dull?

EDIT* This is in relation to the first post

Thanks for the comments guys. I did the crackle-finish intentionally...I didn't want a gloss or shiny look to it. As for the color, my car is SSM but I think that it goes really well. I was originally going to do silver with black letters, but after seeing the engine without the cover, it just looked like there was too much silver in the engine bay.

As for spray technique, I just followed the directions on the can. Dupli-Color has a nice nozzle that lays down the paint nice and even.

tChui, thanks much for the inspiration! :D
