so i put in my Raceland CAI this morning. i was gonna convert it to SRI but i figured, its not gonna rain anytime soon anyways, so ill just keep the CAI for now. sorry by engine bay is nasty looking. i forgot to put the engine cover thing back on and was too lazy.

so anyways, everything was running all good until like 50 miles later, the check engine light came on. i have one of these:

so i check it and this came up.

it says:
"MAF or VAF a CKT range perf"
no clue what that means, but im pretty sure i tightened the MAF thingy pretty tight. ive heard certain people had this problem but once they convert it to SRI, the light went away.
you guys have any ideas as to whats throwing the light off? is it not important? cuz if its not, the code reader thing has an "erase light" button so i can just do that. but i dont wanna erase it while theres something wrong with the MAF.

^With the code in the system bringing the light on or cleared, the issue is still going to be there. Clear it if you want just make sure to look into it.

I had tossed the same code on my DIY intake for my tC2... It idled rough for a little bit as well. I just pulled the MAF blew on the sensor and tossed it back in. Cleared the code with my ScanGaugeII, and it has never come back on since. Going on 4 months now...
Mine threw up a code when i put my Fujita CAI in. Rough idle for a bit then started balancing out once it adjusted. After that I checked the MAF and reset the CEL. Hasn't been back since.

When I first put the CAI in. Everything went okay. When I first started the engine, it stalled automatically. I started it up again and was running perfectly fine. The light didn't turn on till 50 miles later. I'll see if I can clean the sensor or something later today or tomorrow.
there is like a glass tip thing on it, it could have gotten dirty, and it came on 50 miles later because when you disconnect the battery it resets the logs, so it takes about 50 miles or so for the car to do its self check. try disconnecting the battery, take out the sensor check if its broken or dirty, put it back in, connect the battery and then start it and let it idle for about 10-15 mins by it self. it feels like it will stall, and if it does just start it again. try to keep your battery disconnected for about 15 mins or more.
I had this problem twice when i installed the same intake. what had happened was i didnt put the tube all the way down onto the intake manifold. which caused a slight leak. next time it came on i just cleaned the sensor and its been off ever since. just go back and check some stuff like that. also. what that guy above me said.

so guys, i have a question....
so when i started my car this morning, the check engine light was still on obviously since i havnt done a fix for it yet. well, i drove to alhambra today to almansor park. well, i had my car parked there for a while, maybe like 6 hours. so i drove my friend to her house and got on the freeway back home. i noticed the check engine light was gone. WTF!?!? i didnt do anything at all to make it go away. not even as far as opening the hood since the light came on back during the install. i was wondering what might have caused it to go away? all i can think of is when my car was bouncing during rough roads, it might have wiggled the MAF into place or something. what happened? anything like this ever happen to you guys?
