K&N is better because it exists

I can claim 15hp on my custom intake (here) it still won't make it true. The guy's entire marketing campaign is based on a dyno glitch - 12whp from a short ram - come on . K&N knows what they are doing and are not trying to BS anybody. 6whp is much closer to truth than 12.

6hp gains seems more realistic when talking about hp/tq numbers. intakes are like getting a sandwhich with out nothing on it. with other mods your intake will produce more hp/tq numbers.....in other words bitting into a nice cheese sandwhich. 12hp gains from a short ram intake are bul, and until i see a proven legit dyno sheet i saw bul. damn i kinda hungrey now. haha

Looks like Vividracing had it. I'll keep everyone updated with pics and a sound clip when I install it later this week.

Weapon R's intake claims 13 whp gain, but if you look at their dyno, their baseline is 126.9 whp, which is really low. Their peak hp is 139 whp. The K&N dyno shows only a 6 whp gain, but that is higher than the weapon R, which is what really matters, not to mention the heat soak issue with a SRI.

I REALLY wanna get this thing but I think im gonna have to hold off till I hear that sound clip. HURRY UP hehe! and I agree the dyno seems to be even better than the WR's shifty claims of 12 hp.

torque = 5254 * 6 / 5400 = 5.8 ibf/ft

I don't think it's CARB exempt since it had no markings or documentation indicating so. Even K & N's page says it isn't.

I would like to know if anyone bought the intake from hopup also???
Do they even have it. I Emailed them about the DC exhaust about 4 some odd days ago and they still havent got back to me.

Another Edit
ON THE OTHER HAND, if you visit one of their authorized web resellers, Vic Hubbard Speed, you can get the same one for $257.51 + shipping, here:

http://www.vichubbard.com/shop/produ...roductid=41846
Just ordered the intake from Vic Hubbard Speed. They have silver only and the shipping is free. Well no shipping was added so I guess its free. I got it for $257.

No it doesn't void your warranty, but it will make getting warranty claims resolved more time consuming.

Apparently you guys are new to real world tuning. K&N makes a great filter, but if you over-oil it the oil will coat the hotwire and the sensor wire on the mass airflow sensor (MAF) giving you issues particularly at idle. We've seen this on MkIV Supras for a long time. It either takes a couple of years, or just one really good wet oil job and your MAF sends bad data to the ECM. Since the MAF number is the second most important number to your ECM (second to crank position), it tends to throw off a lot of calibrations, not the least of which is your A/F ratio.

TCCS will compensate to some degree, it has built-in algorithms to account for progressive degradation of sensors, but you need to be very prudent with any oiled air filter on a MAF equipped engine.

Default Hey

I know that AEM has a part of their CAI's that virtually stops water from getting in to the engine........can this device be attached to any other CAI pipe considering that the pie size is the same........???????????
