Default Keyless entry difficulties...

I just bought a new keyless entry key for my Scion Tc. I programmed it so it does lock and unlock and the panic works but the car wont start. The ignition works and it sounds like its going to start but it doesn't. Can anyone help me out?

^^ x2. The dealer has to program the key so it has the code for your ECU. Without the correct code in the key the ECU will not let the engine start.

Nah, you could do this yourself if you have 2 keys that work... my gf had this problem with her Focus. First, you put in a key that works, turn the car to ON, turn it off, take out the key and put in the second key that works... valet key or whatever. then turn the car to ON, then take the key out. Third, put in the new key that won't start the car and turn the key to start, and it should work. That's how it worked in the Focus, anyway... it's worth a shot.

No, the ECU learns the key's code.

Thats how Ford does it, I know Some Chrysler's use that style with more stringent timing. I don't know Toyota has a way to customer program the immobilizer though.

If it works though let us know.
