yeah when the light comes on you will have 3 1/2 gallons left. I could pull another 70 miles or so with the light on then fill it back up, putting in about 13.x gallons or so.
I change my oil every 10,000 miles, I'm running Amsoil 5w30.

Every 10k you serious?
I try for about 4-5k, just to be safe.
um as for the fuel light, when I lived in hawaii there would be times when the light would come on, I would leave the car come back, and when i started it the light was gone. dunno lol.
but if your really not sure it would be a safe guess to assume u have 1.5-2 gallons left so 40 miles of steady driving, less on stop and go.

5000k on oil changes and about the light thingy.. try not to wait until ur light to come out. once u c ur car go below the 1/4 mark, just fill it up!! and its about a gallon n half to 2 left when the light is on.
anyone else notice that if your taking a hard right turn and on the gas, the fuel pump wont get enough gas when the tank is low (around when the light comes on or lower) and the motor will "stutter" until you straighten back out? this scared the ____ out of me the first time it happened...i thought i had broken something
Letting your fuel get low enough to sputter the engine is a great way to kill your fuel pump.
Gasoline is to a fuel pump what oil is to your engine. Would you let your oil get low enough to just "start" burning up your bearings?
wait until a few years down the road when you've got fuel floaties and other contanimants in your tank. You really want those running through your engine?

yes i understand that..im warning others not to let it get too low. That has only happened once, i know its not good for it. I fill it up up usually right when the light comes on but i was just asking if anyone else experienced that. Thanks for the advice tho
I have now about 2200 miles and still have the original oil. I check the oil and it still looks clean. But I'm planning doing my first oil change at 3000 miles. Now I'm planning on using mobile 1 fully synthetic oil. Is it ok or should I go another 3000 miles?
Once I do mobile 1 I'm planning on changing oil every 5k

I changed mine at 2k to Castol Syntec. Then again at 5k and every 5k interval after that. It wasnt necessary but its not gonna hurt your motor to put fresh oil in it. You prolly would be fine just waiting tho
The simplest way to look at is this:
You have a 14.5 gallon tank, and a 10 gallon gauge.
There are 2 gallons above the gauge, and 2 gallons below.
That half a gallon? You'll never touch that, just pretend it isn't there.
So when your needle is on 1/2, you've used 7 gallons. You have 125-150 miles to go before the light comes on. Once the light is on, try not to go more than about 25 more miles. The motor is not happy trying to sip from that last gallon.
And unrelated but seemingly in this topic, if you're changing your synth oil at intervals of less than 7500 miles, you may as well burn some money to go along with that you're wasting.

Yeah, gasoline actually cools the fuel pump in the tank. Don't let the tank run too low or you can easily overheat and ruin the pump. Depending on the type of Scion, you should have about 2 "useable" gallons of fuel remaining when the low fuel warning light comes on. There'll still be some sloshing around in the bottom of the tank that can't be picked up by the pump.
Royal Purple syn oil is good. See if you can find "Eneos" syn oil. It's just as good and costs a bit less. 0-w-20 is recommended for "normally aspirated" Scions. Eneos is the top selling brand in Japan. Whether it's synthetic, a blend, or conventional oil. 7,500 miles is just too long between changes. 5,000 is the recommended oil change interval for Scions, and change the filter EVERY time. Stick to the plan, don't waste your money. You won't harm a non-boosted engine. If the engine is boosted, go to a slightly heavier weight oil like a synthetic 5-w-20, or 5-w-30. Racers, use no less than 10-w-40.
