Default Manual Transmission Randomly Popping out of Third Gear

Has anyone else experienced this???

I have had my car since July 21st .... and since then ... on THREE seperate occasions .... as I am accelerating through the gears, the transmission will just pop into neutral from third gear! The first time I thought I didn't put it in gear well .... but I know that's not the problem because I have made it a point to both make sure the clutch was in far enough and also that I put the gear shift firmly in third when I shift!

Has anyone ever had this happen with any car ... I have owned several manual transmission cars and have never had anything like this happen! Anyone had it happen to them???? Thanks for the incite in advance!

yeah i would have said you didn't put it into gear properly, but if you depressed the clutch all the way and pushed up on the shifter all the way... then i don't know what to tell you. have it checked out at the dealer.

i've heard this is a defect, that would be fixed under warranty, see your dealer and have them fix it.

BTW, you're not the only one...

and the WHOLE TRANNY should be replaced under warranty.

My tranny has a hard time going into third it has a very notchy feeling as it goes in. I hope that eventually my car doesnt have problems staying in third.

Ok, ignorance question......

I thought the Scion TC had a proven Camry 4 cyl engine in it.

Why is this an issue?

Is transmission new whereas engine if proven?

ummm.....that could be very bad for your car if you do it to many times. Lets say your getting on the highway and your hitting the gas pretty hard to get up to speed. Your in 3rd gear about to shift into 4th and it pops into neutral, you RPM's go past redline and your screwed if you do that enough.

Take the car to the dealer if you feel it isnt user error.
