Make sure you look at insurance on the 350Z. If you're young (sounds like you are) you might be RAPED on insurance to the point of it not being worth owning the car.

If I had 15k and I wanted to go fast, I'd build up my muscle car. But I'm on a forum full of import guys. ;)

15k doesn't get you very far in college anyways.

PS: Cybergypsy is the worst liar/troll I have ever seen be allowed on a forum. Wow. Does ANYONE take him/her seriously?

On your tombstone, I doubt it will read "He had a 350z as a teenager. Therefor, he was the greatest man around".
I doubt he will have anything about a college education on it either! College isn't for everyone. This society has brainwashed itself into believing that you are a "nobody" unless you devote yourself to a degree of some sort. Look no further than to this forum thread as an example of such a lie.

I don't think he's posting on this car forum so he can be lectured on why he should save his money and go to college. Live and let live!

I think you should go ahead and get that 350z! 15k plus another 15k for your tC should get you quite a nice ride.

Here's my "Eleanor":

Lotus Esprit V8, but in British Racing Green not red. And I know it is discontinued

man, those lotus is sweet. i personally saw one myself. i was driving with my friend and we saw a red one. my friend wanted to ask him some question about the car(driving in slow traffic). and the traffic was pretty slow. so HE asked US if we wanted to pull over so we could check out his car. he kept the suspension stock. even at stock height, the lotus was really low. he said the model year 1994.5 or something. it was a turbo inline four. really hot car, but also really expensive.

if i were you, i would keep the tc and keep the 15g's. personally, i prefer the G35 coupe then the 350z.

You're right in the live and let live sense. But all of us saying he should actually spend the money intended for college ON college, have the best of intentions.

Get the car if you want. Not like we'll physically stop you, we'll just moan about what a poor decision it is . I love how so many people have a friend who only has a HS degree and makes mega money. Society is so obsessed with high paying jobs they don't even care what it is. I personally want to be an engineer or some sort. Even though the fact it pays very nicely is awesome, I care more because i apply what I love to learn about, and create practical products we can use in the future. To each his own though, we all see the world differently I suppose.

The idea that this is a "poor" decision is relative to the individual, correct? This may not be a poor decision in regard to HIS life and HIS series of circumstances. You've prematurely judged his decision as "poor" without merit. There are absolutes in life, this just isn't one of them...

Who are you kidding, CyberGypsy? You LIVE to offend... Ha-ha!!

Too bad these guys cater to you and put you into another feeding frenzy with your moronic comments.

The more you leave messages, the more we know how much a fake master's degree does NOT make one a decent person to be around.

The G35 coupe is a million times better looking than the 350 and they are getting a refreshed interior and 10-15% power increase next year. The G35 is the way to go.

Why compare them? Some might think its the same car, Im not sure I think they just share a basic platform. In japan the 350Z is a Fairlady Z while the G35 is a Skyline.

TIME WARP

+++====+++===>

Date: March 5,1986

Hey mom, look what I bought with gramps inheritance...a 1987 280z...its my dream car...forget school...isnt it hot...I got the newist most awesomest car on the block...all the babes will like me. I'm cool.

Time warp

===+++===+++>

Date: Sept 1 2004

Hey son,

I know you wanna get that car with the inheritance gramma left you, but I made the same decision you wanna make and blew all I had on some played out car...why dont you buy a cheaper car and invest the rest. If I would've done that, we could've had a house instead of being in this bum *** apartment.

buy but be smart about or you will be regreting your investment decisions. The people that say you only live once ...buy up! are the ones you'll find in the deepest debt..trust me!

Cybergypsy...oh how we love to gloat!

Its true, you can have a masters degree and still work at Burger King! but its what you do with what you have. You seem to have done well with your knowledge...but whos to say your degree didn't give you some of the tools you needed to succeed in your business...but hey...I can also say I graduated from midlle school to be asst. VP of marketing for Microsoft...no one would know if that were true. No one could validate that. And honestly...to buy 36 cars in 39 months show that no one but an idiot would do such a thing....Wealthy people, for the most part, are thrifty in nature. Rich people dont get rich from spending, but from saving! Wanna impress someone donate some of those "36" cars to meals on wheels...feed your soul with good deeds...but hey, you may respond by saying how you donated 4500 cars to Uzbekistan

Well if the money isn’t used correctly, consider it taxed to death. After that it should leave you with a solid down payment for a tC :D

Yes and no ... the G35 (aka Skyline) does share the same platform, engine, tranny, etc. with the Z ... the only differences being that the G has a longer wheelbase to accomodate the back seat, longer (and non-carbon fiber) driveshaft, and slightly different suspension. The Z gets its slight power advantage from a freer-flowing intake, and weighs less because of less sound insulation and fewer luxury amenities than the G35 has (plus the aforementioned CF driveshaft and lightweight rims). But I'm more likely to call my car "a 350Z with a backseat" than I am a 2-door version of the G35 sedan, because it is more of a sports car than a sedan with 2 fewer doors.

(and if you're wondering if I joined just for that, no -- I'm thinking about getting a tC for my winter car)

as for the original topic, there are several details that VexTC has left out -- is his tC paid for in cash? (if not, he won't have much if anything left from selling it) Is he still living at home? (if so, and he's really making $50K a year, he should be able to afford a 350Z without his grandpa's endowment) etc.

as for the college/degree debate, you can never say that it's not good or worthwhile to have a college degree. My company employs 125,000 worldwide, and it's a fact of life that if you don't have a college degree, you don't get considered for a skilled or professional position. Without a degree, you're relegated to admin positions, working in shipping/receiving, etc. -- positions that will never get you past $50K. I'm 12 years out of school and making a 6-figure salary, and although that might be possible without a degree, it's a whole lot less likely, and probably more difficult. If you're making $50K in sales with 6 years experience and no degree, that's pretty good, but if you lose that job, you can kiss that salary goodbye for a while because you're gonna have to somewhat start over in a new sales position. On the other hand, when I go from job to job, I make higher and higher salaries in positions I wouldn't even be considered for without a degree. Add to all of that, that college was by far the best 4-5 years of my life, and I definitely think it's worth it! Sorry for rambling on...

I agree with you on all points. By the way, I have the same color G. You just have to put in a $80 Z tube to get the freer air flow. Takes about 15 minutes to do.

Education is not everything. I know plenty of people with college degrees who can't find a job in their field. This was in the Florida paper a couple years ago. A high percentage were busting tables because there is no work......

I make more than the average Joe straight out of high school. I wish I could get a degree. Just don't have the time / patience / money now.

Oh and STI 0wn3z 350Z in every way possible
