Default More air intake idea

I'm new to all of this and I would like some opinions on my Idea.

I'm looking at having the front of my air intake system to be in the front of the car. I'm thinking about making a custom fiber glass grill with a 3 inch hole to do this.

Would this create to much air flow and cause problems?

Kenny

Which car do you have? On my xA, there was a black panel preventing air flow from the grill to the area of engine bay where my Injen RD2105's filter was. I took it out...seems good enough for me :D

Hi Mikochu, can you describe more about the black panel. I have the same intake as yours, but right now I just use the short ram because of winter. Thanks

And now, a warning...
I, NOR SCION LIFE CAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS.

If you pop off the 4 fasteners on the front grill, you'll see these two black panels...one on each side of the radiator. I'm guessing they used them to direct the air from the lower grills through the radiator. I took off the one on the right side of the radiator. There are two pegs on the black panel that are attached to the support. Just take some pliars, pinch the pegs, and push them out. The peg on the bottom is harder to get to. Just watch out for the air bag sensor.

I have another idea. What if I used the fog light holes?

I still would like to know if this would create to much air flow?

The fog light hole is small. The hole acts as a mount for the OEM fog lights. If you have no plans to get fog lights, you can bore the hole bigger, but I wouldn't...

I made a prototype fibreglass duct that replaces the foglight cover on the xB. It had a screen on the inside portion of it also. The ducting directed the airflow directly to the filter on my short ram. The prototype is sitting in San Martin and I have put in on the back burner for now as I have JDM foglights in place.

i haven't actually looked yet, but i think those black panels are cooling plates. they prevent air from flowing around your radiator rather than through it. they are there to aid in cooling.
