Default Need help! Broken wheel stud. yes i did a search

and it seems like all the other broken ones were in the front. from what i read i am confused on whether or not i need to get my rotor off. i broke a stud on my rear passenger. right now i have the caliper removed but im struggling to get the rotor off. is this necessary or can i pop out the stud and fit a new one in without having to remove the rotor?

my problem was i had the handbrake up so obviously the rotor wouldnt come off. took a minute to realize it but everything else was easy. only took a few minutes after that. cost me $13 and about 45 minutes and the dealer wanted $120! bastards.
