You'd have a lot more fun if you throw on a rear sway bar and a decent set of springs. Trust me on that.

For what you spend on the engine and the little tiny bit of power you gain from it, you'd be WAY better off putting that money into suspension.

gotta agree with ack. Get a rear sway, some H&R springs and hawk brake pads and tear it up!

wow this has been no help at all except for tcs are life 717 would like new ideas in stead of just lowering it and adding brake pads and sway bar what about cams or some other engine upgrade

^well it depends on what your end goal is. If you want to go turbo then there is no sense spending money on certain things vs na/supercharged. If you want motor upgrades this is what I would do in order:

Overall:
-Silicone hoses
-radiator & diversion pannel
-flui-dampener crank pulley (only balanced one on the market)
-Ingalls "Stiffy" ETD/Energy supension motor mounts (lets you put the power to the ground better)

if you go turbo:
-all of the above then

-Quality full turbo kit (Decendant/Dezod/Ptuning/Turbonetics)
-Immediately get it tuned before driving
-LSD for tranny w/ performance clutch
-Decendant intake manifold (optional)
-Get re-tuned
-Methanol (optional)
-Get re-tuned
-FI cams
-Get re-tuned
on and on...

If you go supercharged:
-All of the top listed then:

-wrap headers.
-Upgrade and replace bearings in supercharger
-WR intake
-9lb pulley
-Call it good & pray the bearings don't go out

If you stay N/A:
-All the top listed stuff @ the top then:
-Throttle body spacer
-Remaining pulley set
-stage 1 cams
-Rebuild bottom end (balanced crank, lightened rods, yada yada)
-LSD, flywheel, & clutch

Hope that better answer your questions, purely my opinion but thats what I would do.

Sincerly

it is widely known that tb spacers are snake oil but i don't want to argue.

Contrary to what people seem to think toyota engineers it's engines to produce the most power they can so engine mods give you minimal power gains. After i/h/e and pulley(which may or may not affect reliability, search) there isn't anything you can do(except f/i). These car's are not fast, they are cheap and reliable(remember "reliable, fast, cheap. pick 2"). That said there are plenty of mods that make the car more fun to drive. To improve shifting(manual only) you could get a flywheel(engine spins more "freely" when shifting), better motor mounts, or a ingalls "stiffy" engine torque damper(both reduce wheel hop and keep the engine still).

While slow our cars do have good handling and a few mods will make them out handle a lot of cars(as proven by autox). Good springs(NOT SLAMMED) with matched dampers(struts)(like trd struts and trd spring or coilovers). paired with a stiffer rear sway(progress) will maximize handling. Also tires. Stock tires suck so you will really feel better tires.
