More radical for the replacement? I dont think so. Look at the new xb, its more tame. The xD has a bit of an edge but at the same time, has lost that special "bang" the xA had.

I would love to be proved wrong, i really would. But the chances of that happening, imo, are low. Can it happen? Absolutely. Will it? Time is the only answer.
I would love for a company, maybe not Scion, but a company go out and ask real enthusasis what they look for and would want in a new car. Take that, draw a concept using what they've gained and making it plausable, practical, and sellable.
Obviously a v12 sports car for $20k will never happen, but i think i made my point.
They need to stop considering everything and try something off the wall, but still something that can be marketed. It can be done, it has been done.
I like how the new cars look but I agree that they are less edgy than the old ones. I wonder how much of a culprit the success of the more traditional-looking tC was?

I doubt toyota will want to get rid of the success they built up with the tc...but i guess only time will tell.
Well .3 of a liter and 20 more horses is definitely not bad, and with this 2.7 l their power numbers are going to start looking like Spec-vs and most likely run that car into oblivion, not to mention wreck poor little "Si"ssy with their measly 137 f-lbs. But thats if they even put it into the Tc, have people failed to notice that Scion has a some what aggressive looking concept the "Fuse" under their sleeves with "better-than-ever" performance who can't see this motor eclipse the Tc and head straight for that? Too bad that they couldn't of developed it 2 or even a year ago!
Definitely look for a swap! Even though the power gain doesn't seem worth it to some if they can pull the torque up to the 188-190 range with the hps, with wings it'll fly. Not to mention the possibilities will be endlessss!!

"if you want more power, get a K20. 188 out of a 2.7 is not impressive, nothing to write mom about, and not worth wasting time swapping into your tc." Yeah right if you want to spend $6000 not including install which is close to $3,000 is you want it done right, get less torque out of a 2.4 as well as the hp you can get with a $3000 s/c. I'm talking 20-25 f-lbs for .3 of a liter is close to a 15% gain in TORQUE the s#@t that moves the vehicle, that would be impressive to Mr. Honda, horsepower is awesome but without torque it's nothing. That is why Tc's can keep up with Si's (37 more hp) with our 30 more f-lbs! Just WHY?

omg, for the hundreth time, peak tq # isn't as important as the torque curve. k20 may not make as much peak torque, but it revs a lot higher, and thus carries a much broader power band and is thus better suited for racing...while the tc's low revving low end tq is more suited for launching and commuting around town. while its not that big of a difference, it is certainly real.
????WTF?? show me a stock tc that can "keep up with" a stock Si.... or show me a BPU tc that keeps up with a BPU Si. pretty sure that doesn't happen. unless the driver mod factors in. am i wrong here?
and your "horsepower is nothing without tq" comment doesn't really make sense. HP is a measure of tq over a period of time, ie. the amount of work/energy your engine puts out at a give engine speed. The same could be said, Torque is only the force applied to the crank, and is nothing without higher rpms.
diesel trucks and stuff make a buttload of tq, but only rev to like 3 grand. hence, a very narrow power band and the need to continually shift.....not good for racing.
true, but who really cares about the 2azfe, its just a regular 4 cyl commuter engine that needs a LOT of work to be considered "fast".
solid, yes. anything extraordinary? not really.
i'd MUCH rather have a 2.0L 3sgte or even 3sge (altezza) in my tc.

True you won't find a stock Tc that can beat a stock Si but if you were to compensate the $5000 extra your paying in simple power mods theres no way a stock Si will keep up until hes at 8000 grand in 6th
