Default Next Corolla could steal tC's lunch

They look pretty good:

Corollas are generally lighter and now with the tC's 2.4L, it could leave the tC in the dust. They will also get a 5spd automatic. The previous XRS was more expensive than the tC probably because the G motors cost a lot more to make.

I hope toyota doesn't drop the ball on the next tC. I'd hate to have my ___ kicked by a Corolla that's quicker and cheaper than my car.

The xrs will be faster but It defenitely won't be cheaper. Besides I love my tc!! Right now there isn't anything that anyone makes in the price range of my tc that I think is faster or looks nicer!!

HP doesn't matter. If it's lighter than our bohemoth, then it could be faster. Plus it's all about the torque ... which is the same on both I believe. Hopefully it will be just as heavy or maybe the gearing could be changed? I don't think Toyota would want to cut into its Scion sales ... or undermine Scion ... that wouldn't look too good.

I thought Toyotas Slogan was "Moving Forward"...They had the 1.8l motor borrowed from the GTS making 170 HP and yes the torque were those equal to Honda around 127, but the car was a six speed with 32MPG hwy....I wonder what the new MPG will be with the 2.4

4 Door, Made by Toyota = not light, same motor derated a few ponies, I think the tCs are safe. good for compettion though......One good thing I see is the tC, Camary, G2xB, new corolla, and new matrix sharing the same motor is the fact that the aftermarket will never die for this engine!

It's a 4-door....

If I wanted a car with 4 doors, I'd still be driving my Buick stationwagon.

well, actually, the corolla xrs is going to come with the TC's 2.4 liter engine, with a 5 speed manual.

the rest will come with the 1.8 liter rated at probably 130-140 hp. so no, the corolla will not be eating the tc's lunch anytime soon, atleast not in stock form.

nowhere on the toyota new corolla site did it list the 180 hp engine with lift. so yeah,

tc>corolla now and always and until the end of time.

Whew. I can finally sleep at night! HAHA! But still ... sucks that the XRS will be practically a tC ... It's okay, the tC is waaaaay hotter.

If they want to be semi-sporty, then they should keep it under 2800lbs. XRS will get the Camry's engine (5 speed auto). But this car is for people who want four doors with moderate power without the weight of 3300lbs. 4-cyclinder Camry.

umm, there already is a 4 cylinder Camry. And the engine is the 2AZ (i.e.: what's in the tC).

I did drive the Camry SE with the 2.4 before the tC, and I like it better in the tC since there's less weight to haul.
