well most companies use a motor for half there line up...its much cheaper. for ex. the k20, VQ, mazdas duratec 2.3/3.0, idk i love my scion and even though toyota sales are strong as hell i think there taking the easy way out with there line up. they need to make a sports car and maybe another sports coupe other than the boring solara. like mazda has the speed 3,6, and rx8. honda has civic si,s200/acura has has the rsx and the tl type s....every company evept vw and toyota has at least two sport cars....and the scion tc isnt even a sports car.

Ah, the XRS was meant to be a bit faster right? Then they shouldn't have detuned it, even if it only is like 3hp less, lol. Hopefuly the mpg of the corolla won't go down, or else they'll kill a major selling point.

The only way Toyota will wake up and make a performance vehicles is when we leave Toyota's **** and buy the other brand.

true that
they are to complacent with the soft vehicles they have now cause they are cheap and generate mad profit
performance is just not one of the priorities on their list
but maybe things will change, future concepts show that they are pushing the performance end through lexus and new toyota models
^^and i highly doubt scion and toyota are against eachother, that would be a horrible marketing strategy, to pit their own brands against eachother?
scion is meant to capture the youth market, the customizing market, the 2 fast 2 furious market that is so popular in america

the corolla is meant for a different market. the xrs seems like it was made for people with performance in mind. light, smaller turning radius, better skipad, and the 2azfe.....

oh well, slap a supercharger on your tc and you will have them in the dust. apparently the xrs does not have a supercharger availible

The XRS is coming out as the tC is about to be phased out. This was how it was when the tC first came out, somewhat overlapping the Celica's demographics. The tC replacement had BETTER be something good...

The tC destroyed the Celica in sales (last couple of months of the Celica's life).

I remember seeing a Celica GT on the dealer showroom and it was marked down $1,500 below sticker on the dealer showroom and it was just rotting collecting dust. There was a chick that walked in looking for a tC and the dealer told her they were sold out. He pointed to the Celica and she said no thanks, turned and walked away

Who could blame her. $20,000 gets you a Celica GT with 140hp, 15in rims, cd/tape player, no sunroof, no ABS...

The Celica was a good car. However, it was ridiculously over priced. I remember a Celica for $18,000. It had crank windows, am/fm/cd radio, wheel covers and... that was it. Imagine the tC sitting next to that for $16,500. Massacre baby!

yea comparing scion tc to toyota celica, is like comparing toyota camry v6 to lexus ES300, you are paying for the name, celica i believe is usa built therefore the price diff is higher, i had a gmc envoy and its the same as a chevy trailblazer, just higher price, but i had standard leather haha

There are alot of repeats within the toyota line up tc, camary, rav 4, xB2, now corolla, maybe thats not even it, toyota engines are awesome, but I wish they would put their best engines (LEXUS) in the newer models! God I love toyota, they arent like honda which usually produce higher hp than torque, iv looked at the lexus engines and they all push over the hp in torque! What better company than toyota, not even nissan/infiniti produce nore torque over hp! well mayb 1 or 2!

They need to hurry up and release the new tC specs and design, im dying to know? I know itll be soon!

I like the corolla, specially the front! Looks a lil sporty too!

Last gen Celica were all made in Japan. I guess they cost more than the tC since the tC is a parts bin car. Shared many components with existing cars. However, dollar per dollar, the tCs were far better buys than Celicas.

I really don't get why it's so expensive and offered so little. A sleek body with a Corolla engine?

Toyota did the same with the last gen MR2. It would've been great if they didn't put the Corolla engine in it as well.

Performance is a foreign word for Toyota.
