I wonder why they mention the harness in the overhead console but then instruct you to run the wire all the way down to the foot-well and tap into the harness there?

 

Beats me... these aren't Toyota parts... so basically I got a box with no instructions on how to install it... saw that there are 2 harness... you'll know when you get yours tommorow. My part # on the box was different than the one in the PDF... plus as you can see the T -tap that was given to me were all red and no blue as stated in the PDF. *haha* I got something else maybe? Well it sure works... *lol*

Maybe thats where the side curtains airbag conflict comes in... hmmmm....

Long one... more work

Short one... less work, but had to figure out what is what buy using a wire tester.

So I had a long wire harness, zip ties, and foam cushions/tape left over.

But I am very pleased with the mirror... someone suggested tinting thier window... I wonder how are they going to open thier garage, gate, etc with a tinted window (press the far left corner of your windshield.. the gargage will open *lol*)...

Those map light adds extra coolness... I'd really wanted a compass on there too... man that sucked that they took it off for some reason. Now... only if we can get some auto dimming side mirrors like those up scale cars.

 

Installed my auto dimming mirror on Friday with the help of RanmaP's photos. :D The hardest part was getting that damn overhead console off. I guess that's a good thing though. Its an awesome mirror and the ambient lighting it projects just adds that small touch of coolness that is the tC.

Coolness... yeah the ambient lights are great & glad you got yours installed.

Anyways... I will be taking down the pictures since I'm using my ISP's ftp and its taken alot of hits. I need the space and bandwith for other posts.

Great tutorial. Anyone use this with the side airbags yet? Hmm, I am pondering just taking a peek under the dome light console to see if the wires match. If they do, why wouldn't the auto-dimming mirror work with the SRS?
