Odd noise: I think it's normal, but what is it?
I have a noise at take-off, and I assume it is normal because it's been happening every day since I got the car. I'm just curious as to what the noise actually is, because my previous car didn't have it.
I have an '07 auto, if it makes any difference. Every day, I reverse out of my parking space, and then switch into drive. I usually don't come to a complete stop before changing from R to D, if that matters. Anyway, about 2 seconds after switching into drive, after the car begins rolling and I give it some gentle gas, I hear a noise coming from somewhere down below. It's just a little clunk, like something is engaging or disengaging. Not sure if it has to do with the transmission. I sometimes think it sounds like it's coming from the rear axle.
Does everyone have this? Only autos? What's the deal?

it is everything changing position real fast since you are still rolling when you change into drive the car has to stop before everything can realign to roll forward. When you give it gas the car tries to change everything faster so it can go like you want it too
