Doesn't the stock battery have a little indicator on it. Its a clear circle with some colors underneith it to tell you the condition of the battery. Go look at it and look for a little sticker on the battery top explaining how to read it.

yeh try charging it first. get a jump. leave it running for about 10 min then unhook it but leave the car running. drive it around for a bit then come home turn it off. if it doesnt turn on again then u prolly need another battery. i thought optima yellow top was better then the red top.

Have somebody else jump you then take it to your local battery shop (NTB, Batteries Plus, or whatever u have in New York) and have them check your battery. Most likely it just needs charged.

As for Optimas......Yellow top costs more than the red top but for just starting applications the red top is better. The Yellow top is also used for deep cycling where the red top is primarily a stating battery. The Yellow top has thicker platelets and is more vibration resistant, due to it being a deep cycle battery.

As for a battery recommendation Red top if you wont be adding additional accesories like dvd players, lcd screens, sunwoofers and stuff like that. If you plan on doing a system or adding any kind of battery draining accesories get the blue or yellow top

As for a charger recommendation go with a deltran battery tender 12v 1.25amp fully auto charger. They come with a 10 year warranty and is one of the best chargers on the market. They are also excellent to use for lawn tractor, motorcycle, jet ski, and ATV batteries.

Unless you are being pretty harsh on the electrical system there is no need to spend $120 on a battery. Stay away from cheapo brands (they not only will die sooner but can short cells easily and damage your charging system) but usually if you spend around $70 or so on a good battery you will be fine. The $60 battery in my 96 saturn was in that car for 5 years (that I know of.. I bought the car used) and lasted through a 600 watt system that I pounded the hell out of without the engine running a large number of times at parties as well as an alternator that died, causing me to drive literally until the car would not run to get out of the bad side of KC at 2 in the morning, then through the cold a$$ mornings here in the twin cities for one winter before starting to get a little weak. If you think about it you could buy two of those level of batteries in a 10 year period and still spend the same as one $120 battery. The optimas are definitely good batteries, but a little bit overkill a lot of the time.
