One more Oil Consumption question
Hello, My car is having the oil changed right now to begin the oil consumption test. I was informed that the car needs to burn more than 1 quart inside the 1300 miles. I've never actually measured exactly but my estimate is the car burns around 2 quarts per oil change (3000-3500 miles).
In my opinion, 2 quarts for every 3000 miles is pretty ridiculous yet this would be considered a "pass". Now I have no interest in being mischievous but it is my belief that Toyota messed these engines up to start with and to consider 2 quarts per 3000 miles "in spec' is absurd. What im getting at is, how could I "help" the car fail the test. Obviously I don't want to cause excessive wear and damage and drive the car like an ___ but will city driving vs highway driving consume more oil or the other way around? Should it be driven for long periods of time (road trips, etc.) or stick to short trips and take more days to fulfill the 1300 miles?
Any advice is appreciated. I just will be a little upset if I'm told that adding a quart every 1750 miles is perfectly acceptable and car is in spec.
Thanks

I recently failed the my oil consumption and now just waiting on parts to come in. My is a 5-speed so I drove it a little harder and left its at a higher rpm during those 1,100 - 1,300 miles. Most of my miles were just city driving too. I was in your exact situation a couple months ago when I first started, hope that helps
