Ordered My tC: Interesting
The dealer pre orders the car the way they think should be fit...meaning... the dealer picked those mats. Before the car hits port to be delivered to the dealer, the dealer has the option to select or de-select any part on that list. You do not have to pay for something you do not want BUT the cars are moving so fast, they are ordering them w/ a few options to get thir sales up (because they know the car will be sold anyway). Buying things off ebay is not illegal but I dont know how they are selling the parts (marked on the package by the dealer) online because Toyota is pure pricing w/ these cars (but i surely dont care one bit.) Buy all the things you can off ebay if you know how to install them. Dont spend the extra money for things that are just drop-ins and can be done in 2seconds.
Whenever a dealer says ANYTHING about pricing and availability, take it with a grain of salt. There are some honest dealers, but most have no problem luring you into a deal with a couple misleading facts thrown in.
I am still in the process of deciding whether to go with a base RSX or a tC, and here are my experience with both the Scion, and the Acura dealerships:
Acura - I went in to take a look at the RSXs they had there, the salesman was fine and didn't really seem pushy like most are. I test drove an auto RSX, asked about availability, and said I was going to think about it. He, of course, suggested we perhaps head down to the office and discuss it further, but I said I really just need to think about it and wouldn't buy the car on the spot anyways. So, about a day or two later I called another dealership and asked them if they could beat the price I was quoted by the dealer I went to earlier. They beat the price, and I followed up with the original dealer. The salesman I spoke with gave me a deal, and added "but you know, I think the manager is just in a really good mood, the deal is only good for today". I decided to play his own game and simply replied "oh, well I guess I won't be buying it then because I am not going to make a decision today, and seeing as how the car will rise in price due to the deal not being valid after today, I won't stop by at a later time". Of course, the guy said "uh... well you can still come by, we can probably work something out like this..."
Scion - I was still in the process of learning to drive a manual, so I wanted to test drive an auto meanwhile. I go there, and the salesman tells me they only have manuals. So, we go on a drive but the salesman is driving, this way I can at least feel the car a little bit. After the drive, the guy asks me "so, would you want to order one?" I have never even test driven the car, and he offers it to me. Not only that, he actually offers me the one with a manual, saying "hey, I'll teach you how to drive it". Is this guy for real?
Acura (again) - The salesman I spoke with the entire time before called me up to ask if I made up my mind on the RSX. I told him I looked at the tCs and am trying tod decide between the two. Then, the guy tells me "you know, just between you and me, a friend of mine went to test drive one, and when he got in, the outside door handle fell off". Ok... Right... That's interesting... Then he goes on to say "plus, you don't really have the same reliability as the Acura". Then I ask him "well, Toyota makes Scions, you don't think Toyota is reliable". He just nodded off.
Anyways, that's the crap I've seen from both so far... Still havn't made up my mind
