Default Outside Temperature Reading

Does anyone know how to change the outside temperature reading from Fahrenheit (F*) to Celsius (C*)? After living 12 years in the US I'm still used to the European system

I looked on the Toyota database and ironically it says "the displayed temperature ranges from -30*C (-22*F) up to 50*C (122*F)"

Yes it reads only *F despite them primarily listing the temps in *C in the book.

*First Post...Waves violently!!!*

Hmm, I don't own a tC yet, but try different things to change it...like hold the outside temperature button? There are lots of secret features that are just waiting to be figured out...

On a related note, does appear the temp varies 5-10 degrees from what I think the o/s temp is. Is everyone else getting a real accurate temp?

Thanks.

I noticed that if I am stopped for a while with the engine on the tempiture will be 10 or so degrees higher then it should be. I bet that the temp gadge is in the front grill or close to the engine, and the heat from a stopped engine (ie no wind) will raise the temp alot. But when I am driving the temp seems to be accurate.

whenever i drive by those temp/time towers on the road side, i will check the tC outside temp sensor, so far i only see 2 degree difference, i think tC's temp sensor actually work pretty good.

My dad's Camry, my mom's Corolla, and my old (totalled three weeks ago) Corolla S all have/had outside temp gauges that were about 2-5 degrees difference from the ones on the side of the road. When first getting into the car when it's been in the sun makes a huge difference, but as soon as the car starts to move, it tends to get more accurate.

I want to see how well it works on my new tC when I get that. Three to five more days, and I can drive that thing off the lot.

Does the outside temperature effect how strong the a/c should be on like lexus where the climate control is auto so the a/c adjusts depending on the outside temp.

I don't believe so. In order for the climate control to work that way, it really needs an inside temperature sensor as well, and I don't believe it has one.

Most cars with a outside temp have the sensors located near the front bumper . The air temp and radiant heating coming off the pavement is why you will see a higher temp .
