overlays on my tC...
Hey everyone,
Since Blue was so nice to put those overlays on my Silver tC, I wanted to get everyone's opinion on them...so far I have the headlight eyelids smoked, and goin back later to get the third brakelight reded out and possibly sidemarkers smoked as well. You can see pics here (unfortunately his topic was locked, so post comments here please):

It'd probably look really nice on a darker color as well, although I have to say that i like it, and was pretty fast to put on as well.

I don't think it looks bad, but it does make the headlights look less like a BMW. I consider that a negative, others might like it. I'd be interested to see it on a dark car, or in a paint-matched vinyl.
I'm very interested in some tinted taillights. In fact, I've been playing with some ideas in photoshop. I tried tinting just the lights, both the lights and third brake light, and my final and favorite, this:

I realize the tinted red won't look exactly like that, but I definitely think they look better darker, and I like the clear reverse lights since they match the third brake light. Having everything tinted I think looks too dark, especially on a dark car (like mine.)
I would also very much like to see tinted overlays for the mirror signals. I don't like the white lenses, so some tint will probably do the trick and let them blend in better. Once again, this may just be a dark car thing.

Yea, they're vinyl. Just a dip in water, rub with towel, and blowdry. If you order from Andy, i'm sure he'll be happy to help you. Pretty easy to take off, from what he told me, just blowdry again. That doesn't mean they don't come off easily though....Drove to LA and back to SD and they still look good. This was in Socal heat also.
I'm not so sure about smoking the taillights on a light car like mine, i'll have to photoshop that also (good idea btw
). I don't really like the third brakelight being clear...that and the fact that only the middle portion lights up, which is why i want to red it out. But i definitely hear you on the turn signals, they seem a little odd to me for some reason, but i'll photoshop that and see how that is also.

Just for the hell of it, here's a photoshop of red out third brake light.....

and smoked out reverse/3rd brake light...

This took me all of 5 minutes to do, so sorry for the poor quality. THe real thing will obviously look different, but i'm interested in know which one you guys think looks better.

On your car I like the red brake light to match the tails. In that second pic, did you smoke the tails? They would be much darker than that in real life. Or maybe you just smoked the reverse lights?
Sorry i meant to say smoked reverse and third brake light. Didn't realize that and i'm too lazy to photoshop it again. Anyhow, i'm leaning towards redding it out also. Seems thats what the majority of the cars on the road have anyways (benz, tibuoron, etc.). Maybe a combo of the two would look better, ie: smoked out reverse lights and red out brake light.
i like the smoked third brake light and reverse light idea.
if anyone is looking for something to tint their lights with, i've always used the spray can tint that you can find at a hobby shop around the model paint. it works well and looks great. i even put a coat of clear on top so that it's glossy and not flat looking. another method is breaking open the lights and tinting the back of the lens so that you still keep the glossy effect on the outside. i'll post up some pics if yall would like.
