Default parking brake problem

ok so ive got a indigo ink pearl tc manual. just about every other time i put the parking brake down, or for u fancy people, "disengage" it, the brake light stays on. now, sometimes i tihnk the brake is still on as movement seems sluggish "i dont notice the light hasnt come off every time until recently" however other times ill notice the light is on while im drivintg down the road and theres no impedement whatsoever. i KNOW i should go to the dealer, and i will, dont u worry, im just wondering if someone else has encountered the same problem, and maybe im causing it? i dont know. this is my first manual and this stupid brake problem + the roof i need to get fixed r somehwat bothering me.

any input will be well appreciated. ill be posting a thread later tonight on an.... unfortunate yet... strange situation with the tc

I noticed that just like with my old car you gotta sortof jiggle the parking brake when you put it down. Sometimes it looks like it is "disengaged" but there's still some room to move it down further. You just gotta make sure it's all the way down. Try that and see if the light goes off.

It may be the same as my Jeep was. If you hold the button as you lower it, it only goes so far, you MAY have to release the button when you get to the bottom and continue pressing the handle down. Again this is just a general observation, I havent really tested it. I don't really have an issue of this but it may be because I am used to this type of setup.

The break light in my old eclipse use to stay on after I took off the parking break. I came to find out that it had nothing to do with the parking break! Now, I'm not sure if it is the same in the tC, but the "Break" light not only let's you know when the parking break is on, it also turns on when there is something wrong with your breaks. My eclipse was low on break fluid. I put some in, and the light when out.

as with every other problem you have with your scion, take it for the dealership!
It should be an easy fix, probably parking brake cable needs adjusting...

but dont expect someone of forums to fix it for you, go to the dealership and they will be more than happy to fix it

Well, it doesn't necessarily tell you when something is wrong persay, but it does moniter brake fluid levels, so if it stays on check your level just to be safe.

The "brake" light is also turned on whenever the handbrake is applied (which we all know), but the way this happens is a small spring with a plastic peice it compressed, causing an electrical signal to be sent to the ecu saying that the brake handle is up. The "brake" light itself is not trigged directly by the hand-brake being engaged, but rather a small plastic peice.

My MX-6 does that because i disconnected my 3rd brake light when I got my spoiler with leds. I kind of miss it, it was nice to have an indicator when you are braking.. meh I dunno!
