I think its unanimous that some simple instruictions would be awesome!

BTW- great pics! I might do this to tie my blue themed tC together, (Dash, Floor, paint, underbody)

Would it be possible to use them rather than do the soldering and everything?
In short, no. The LEDs glow amber already. Changing the color by using a filter on top of the amber doesn't really work. I tried to do the xB sharpie trick to see if I could get the amber LEDs to glow red. Since they are both on the same side of the color spectrum, I thought it would just result in a dim, but still red, light. It didn't. All I was able to get was an orange.

To all the people wanting instructions, it isn't very easy to desolder small surface mount components. There are a few ways to do it, but you need to practice first to get the technique down. You can use a soldering iron, but if you want go that way, you need to get a decent, temperature controlled Weller or Metcal soldering station. An unregulated iron from radioshack won't cut it. Too hot of a tip and you burn your board. Too cold of a tip, you end up spending too much time trying to desolder the connection and the board delaminates. If you screw up, there goes a $300 gauge cluster.

Did you use a desoldering wick or chipquik? I like to get the pads clean so that I know I get a good solder connection.

That thing is a real POS. You'll have better luck with a Radioshack soldering iron.

Read what some techs have to say about it.

I started on this mod a while back myself, but I couldn't find a source for the LEDs. I couldn't find them in the correct voltage and sizes, so I gave up. So If you could give me a part #, and a place place to buy them, I would greatly appreciate it.
