It's probably not that the job actually takes 3 hours or something,

It's usually just that a dealership has a queue of people in front of you which is why it takes so long. And sometimes, the work that needs to be done of the guy in front of you gets screwed up and so you end up with even more delay.

It's definitely a good idea to call ahead to see how busy they are, find out when their busiest times are and avoid those days.

It took them 3 times to install mine but they only had it for 30 mins a pop. I would be really mad at that dealer and ask for the labor to be refunded. The part is like 40 or so.
