Default is it possible to...

have a toyota tech reprogram the ECU for VVT-i to engage at a certain RPM? my good friend has VTEC in his integra, and I love it. I think it's awesome how the power just comes on at 4.5k. Just an idea.

VVT-i Adjusts the timing constantly. V-tec uses a soleniod to change to a completely different set of cam lobes (higher lift on the High rpm cam lobe set). VVT-i Does not in any way adjust lift.

No.
VVTi is Timing, Vtec is Lift .

as stated VTEC controls the lift of diffrent cam lobes.

VVT-I is simply timing

VVTL-I is more like VTEC. VVTL-I controls not only timing, but also lift. It is similar to VTEC, but at the same time, not really
